Another Gasol to CHI Cblockbuster: Huskies reunion II @ MEM

Post#1 » by HotSpurs21 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 3:01 am

I know this won't ever happen... but I'm having fun with this

Memphis
out: Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Juan Carlos Navarro, Hakim Warrick, Damon Stoudamire
in: Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Desmond Mason, Viktor Khryapa, Othella Harrington, Derek Anderson (cut), Jeff McInnis (cut)

Former Huskies reunite here: Okafor, CV and Gordon (plus Rudy Gay, but he's not in the same Huskies team as they were). Okafor + CV gives them a great offense-defense combo up front, while Gordon is a young star SG to replace Miller. Mason gives them perimeter defense. Others are just fillers.

Okafor/Darko
CV/Swift
Gay/Khryapa
Gordon/Mason
Conley/Lowry

Chicago
out: Ben Gordon, Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, Viktor Khryapa, Adrian Griffin
in: Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Juan Carlos Navarro

They get their coveted low post scoring big man in Gasol. This trade will no doubt take them to another level. Miller gives them a bigger SG, and Navarro gives them another shooter off the bench. Now this is a 10-deep team who can contend.

Wallace/Gray
Gasol/Smith
Deng/Sefolosha
Miller/Navarro
Hinrich/Duhon

Charlotte
out: Emeka Okafor, Othella Harrington, Derek Anderson, Jeff McInnis
in: Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas, David Noel, Damon Stoudamire, Hakim Warrick

Okafor might not want to re-sign here, so they get 2 lotto pick big men in Noah and Thomas, who are still on their rookie deals. Warrick gives them more big man depth. Stoudamire gives them a veteran PG to ease the pressure on Felton. Noel comes back home to North Carolina.

Nazr/Noah/Hollins
Thomas/Warrick/(May)
Wallace/Noel/Dudley
JRich/Carroll
Felton/Stoudamire

Milwaukee
out: Charlie Villanueva, Desmond Mason, David Noel
in: Andres Nocioni, Adrian Griffin

2 good defenders at SF and SG are exactly what they need

Bogut/Voskuhl
Yi/Ruffin
Nocioni/Simmons
Redd/Griffin
MoWilliams/Bell

Finish with a Boone, Marcus Williams and 1st round pick for Conley swap and you have done it!

Actually seems pretty fair. I love it for the Bobcats, they look at Okafor as their franchise player, and they don't get a franchise player back so I'm not sure they do it. But I live in Charlotte and it would be fun to watch them haha.

looks pretty fair all around and it actually works out quite nicely in terms of what each teams become. good job. didn't think that i'd see such a big trade actually work out.

Am I the only one who thinks Memphis gets WAY too much and Charlotte gets screwed?

actually, it does look that way. you'd have to get picks involved. MEM sends 2 1st to CHAR. How does that sound then?

Tempting.

I think if you're underrating Mike Miller, then yeah Memphis gets way too much. But in reality, it's really not that lopsided.

If you consider Emeka's max contract requests, paired with his injury-prone back, I don't think the Tyrus-Noah package is bad at all.

Seriously? 2 1st's? I think the original trade is pretty fair for everyone. No way Memphis send any much less 2 1st's anyone's way.

I think a package of Noah, Tyrus and Warrick is pretty fair for Okafor. You certainly won't get 2 1st round picks. Maybe one, but a heavily protected one that you won't get until years after.

Too much, ICLO. Cliff Levingston thinks the Bulls would pass on this deal with that being the core reason (only willing to give up one, not both young big men).

1) Memphis shouldn't get younger and better by trading Gasol.

2) The Bulls would much rather just do Tyrus and Noah for Okafor.
