Early CHRIStmas in Texas: TOR - SAN - UTAH

Post#1 » by Evermore » Tue Dec 22, 2009 6:22 am

Toronto outgoing: Chris Bosh, Hedo Turkoglu
Toronto incoming: Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko, DeJuan Blair

Utah outgoing: Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko, Kyle Korver
Utah incoming: Richard Jefferson, Manu Ginobili, Antonio McDyess

San Antonio incoming: Chris Bosh, Hedo Turkoglu
San Antonio outgoing: Richard Jefferson, Manu Ginobili, Antonio McDyess, DeJuan Blair

Case for Toronto: They get a big expiring with Boozer which can be flipped for additional longterm assets. Kirilenko's massive deal expire following next season giving the Raps a ton of financial flexibility when Evans and Banks also become free-agents. Blair could end up being a nice steal for this team...

Jack/Calderon
DeRozan/Belinelli
Kirilenko/Wright
Boozer/Johnson/Blair
Bargnani/Boozer/Evans

Case for Utah: They bring in 2 players that will fit into their starting lineup immediately while also adding depth to their frontcourt with Antonio McDyess. Ginobili's expiring contract will provide some much needed financial relief for a team with the 3rd highest payroll in the NBA while Boozer's departure clears the way for Millsap to start fulltime...

Williams/Maynor
Ginobili/Brewer
Jefferson/Brewer
Millsap/McDyess
Okur/Millsap

Case for San Antonio: They create the best starting frontcourt in the league by pairing Bosh with Duncan while adding a solid 4th scoring option in Hedo...

Parker
Mason/Finley
Hedo/Korver
Bosh/Bonner
Duncan/Ratliff

I knowww but still, Manu/TP/Duncan have been there with Pops and SA since day 1. Just really really hard to see. They're a family out there

Manu is a free-agent after the season...

He could always sign with the Spurs...

This would not be a bad scenario for TO. SA finds a great replacement for Duncan when he retires. Utah gets a good SF (albeit not the playmaking one they want - that's Manu) and a steady PF backup (if they want Millsap starting). TO strongly considers but ultimately only moves on this if they think Bosh isn't coming back. This is a nice proposal.

If Toronto is trading Bosh, it isn't just going to be a hedo salary dump.

This obviously isn't a straight salary dump...

Blair is a great prospect who's under contract for 3 more season at an affordable cost...so he's a tremendous asset to have

And Boozer is a legit 20/10 PF on an expiring contract...

There are a lot of teams that would be willing give up young talent or picks to bring him in at the deadline for a championship run this season...

As a Toronto fan, i would do this only because Blair is being added. If Bosh is leaving, Blair could be the perfect compliment to Bargnani long term. The Bargnani/Boozer/Kerilenko front court could be a pretty serious disaster for the rest of the season though.
