Actually you should be thanking the Memphis GM... apparently Gasol flirted with his wife or something. Great trade for LA. There isn't much in that trade that has to do w/ the Heat outside of the backfired Kwame for Caron trade. At any rate, congrats on become serious contenders in the West.

we couldn't add #1s to the deal, which obviously was the key (and cap room) for the Grizz

Ricky and JWill in expiring? That's lots of Cap room!

Oh wait! I forgot you're a mod too. :banghead:
this was part of a REAL trade (Pau) not some random masturbatory trade

So yeah, Davis and Cook for Mike Miller works. I'd hate to see Cook go but Miller fits the Heat to a 'T.'

PG- Draft/Quinn/Vet
SG- Wade/ Miller/Pietrus
SF- Miller/Pietrus/Wright
PF- Haslem/Johnson
C- O'Neal/Blount/Zo?/Anthony

I would have done this deal with Memphis and I think it is a better deal than what L.A. offered:

JWill, Wright, and Cook

for

Gasol and Lowry

I would have been pushing this deal, though, if I was Miami:

Jason Williams, Ricky Davis, Dorell Wright, Daequan Cook,

for

Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, and Kyle Lowry

I would even have allowed Memphis the right to switch picks with us this year, as long as we didn't land the top pick in the draft.

Anyways,

G - Fisher/Farmar
G - Bryant
F - Odom
F - Gasol
C - Bynum

That's lovely if it all works out.
They might not be a direct rival, like the Yankees are not a direct rival to the Marlins considering they play in the opposite league. But I still hate the crap out of the Yankees and the Lakers largely do to their fan bases.

Great deal for the Lakers. Those first rounders will likely be worthless.

I have to think that Memphis is looking to move players. One of their point gurads or Miller could be a interesting acquisition. Don't think we could have made a play for Gasol.

I would even be for a deal that looked like this:

Juan Carlos Navarro
Mike Miller
Brian Cardinal

for

Jason Williams
Ricky Davis
Smush Parker

I dont think LA is going to look to deal Odom to shed payroll, they are going all in for a run at a title.

now the question of how Odom will fit without the ball in his hands as much and his switch back to SF might prompt LA to look to deal LO for a better fit.

would we deal Haslem and Blount for Odom and filler?

Why would they? They have Turiaf and Gasol at power forward.

I think you are all overstating Memphis desire to move Mike Miller. They just got max cap room for next year and will have a great draft pick of their own, and another first rounder as well as many tradeable young players to fill out other spots. Miller has a reasonable contract. We'd definately need to take Cardinal to even start a trade with them, and probably take Jason Collins too, but I don't think they are in firesale mode. Gasol just didn't fit that team anymore and they got a good deal out of it.

With that in mind, a fair offer is probably J-Will, Ricky and Barron for Miller, Cardinal and Collins. works on the trade checker, doesn't give up any of our youth but takes on their bad contracts for them and leaves them with only $22,524,061 on the cap next year and very young and ready to rebuild quickly.

C - Darko
PF -
SF - Gay / Warrick
SG -
PG - Conley / Navarro / Lowry / Crittenton

There is plenty you can do with that cap room and a top draft pick. Thats 3 max players, or 2 max and two MLE, or 1 max and 4 MLEish.
