We aren't taking before that first round pick is conveyed to OKC next year.

Correct it would have to be the year after.

On another note all this because of needing to trade Okpala instead of just letting him expire at the end of that year. It should have been the 2023 pick like it was originally. That pick amending may go down as the stupidest move in franchise history if we just go on to suck anyway next year and are forced to convey

Well they drafted Jaquez with that pick, so who knows. Also, the pick due next year it lottery protected. So if they Heat do end up totally **** the bed next year, they will have the pick. Then 2026 pick would be due with no protections tho.

At the very least I do think bringing in a shooter to challenge Duncan like Strus did is in order. Not much that can be done in FA with the team basically capped out.

Draft has a couple of nice shooters in the second round with Karaban and Sandfort

Well we would be just bad enough to where we fall just within the protected range which seems likely so no high pick. Time will be tell with Jaquez but you do wonder if his ceiling is Jimmy lite (still way too early to tell).

What I suspect is they're going to look at Rozier, Herro, Duncan, and probably Jaime and say can we turn some combination of these guys + a pick into that volume scorer that they desperately need, and what I think they could find is that in order to get that caliber player you have to surrender one of your two best, not the third or fourth best.
