"CBSSports.com has learned that the organization might now be open to considering a much bigger deal -- one involving Stoudemire."

Would Miami consider this deal?

Shawn Marion, D.Cook, M.Chalmers, Udonis Haslem for Amare, Barbosa

Amare-Jamal/Joel
Beasley-Blount
JJ-Dorell
Wade-Diawara
Barbosa-Banks

Take out Cook and Barbosa and I think Phoenix would do it...that is, if they had some sort of inclination that Marion would stay with them.

Edit: just realized that the salaries don't work w/o Barbosa, so I guess PHX wouldn't do it. I'm sure Kerr would ask for Beasley, but why would you guys give up Beasley?

I would do

Marion
Cook
Blount
2010 1st Rounder

for

Amare
Filler

I think it's about time we find Wade a sidekick.

Amare isn't what we need.

I agree, with this new development Riles should be pushing hard for an Amare trade, preferably one that doesn't include Beasley or Haslem, but I think we'll have to give up 1 of those. I think PHX might bite at one based around Amare/Barbosa for Haslem/Marion/Cook.

Nash/Richardson/Marion/Haslem/Shaq with Cook, Hill, Lopez, Barnes off the bench is a pretty well built team for the next couple of years!

Our rebounding takes a big hit, but we take a huge step building towards the future, and if we could trade Blount in a package for a SF (maybe Wallace or Salmons) to a team looking for 2010 space we'd be pretty well built (2 spots free this year, and we can use the MLE next year when everyone else is conserving $)

Chalmers/Quinn/Banks
Wade/Barbosa/Diawara
?/JJ/Wright
Beasley/Anthony
Amare/Magloire

I posted this on the Suns board. Would this be enough to get it done and would we Heat fans be ok with this trade?

OK, how about this from us Heaters....

Marion, Daequan Cook, Dorrell Wright, and a second round pick for Amare? In this you get your boy Shawn back or use his expiring. You get a young shooter and defender in Cook that is coming into his own and along very nicely right now. You get a freaky athletic Dorrell Wright whom would work much better in your system than ours (unfortuantely) and you get a pick.

If you want more meat to add to that you could then later swing something with D'Antoni I am sure for say Nash and/or Marion to land you some promising youngs and picks.

And you don't just chance losing Amare, which is a good possibility in 10. I think this is sweet for both teams.

Remind me again why we want Amare so bad.

Last time I checked the dude doesn't intimidate anyone on the defensive end where we need it the most. He has also openly said he doesn't want to play the C position. He is also terribly inconsistent in my book. Sure, he would be nice to have but I actually don't think he provides what we need.

I think Amare is almost a carbon copy of Marion, just a few years younger. He would be just as lost in a half-court offense. And we still aren't getting a center in the deal for him. Maybe it'd be nice if we could get Lopez.

I don't have a chubby just because he jumps real high.

Not to mention the fact that trading Marion back to Phoenix would make Riley look like a fool and really tarnish the Heat's image as a somewhat classy organization.

Amare would be a center in the east... that being said, no trade for him this season gets done from their end without Beasley... and I'd pass for right now. We're not winning the title this year with Amare, might as well develop Beasley more and if the Heat want him in 2010, they can get him then. I also have a bias against athletes who have the microfracture surgery, although STAT is seemingly 100%, it makes me nervous - like Kenyon Martin, Penny, McDyess, Webber, Mashburn - guys who were athletic before and weren't the same long after the surgery.

You can add Terrell Brandon to that list. (I think Kidd also had microfracture)

And while I agree Amare would benefit from playing in the east, do you really think he’s a better C then Howard? To me he’s two tiers below.

EDIT: nevermind. I read that as the best center in the east. not "a" center. apologies

Kidd didn't rely on jumping and cutting as his main weapons, so that's why he is still great - same with Stockton, who I believe also had it

I agree wholeheartedly to the premise. Which is one reason why Amare is a full tier below Bosh as far as 2010 targets go.

And you would have to think that as long as Wade, South Beach and a max deal are available, we are a top 2 destination that offseason (along with wherever Lebron goes).

Just one question: To me, the “2010 plan” is Amare and Bosh. (with Lebron being the pipe dream). If we miss on both big men, what is left to spend that money on? The thought of wasting any healthy years of Wade’s prime only to be left to give someone undeserving a max deal as a consolation prize is scary.

Boozer certainly isn’t the answer. So I’m not advocating scrapping 2010 for him.

Just curious what Plan B or C might be…

Are they all UFA in 2010?

Not sure I wouldnt prefer Dirk or Yao to Amare. (Yao's injury history isn't pretty either. And Dirk isn't a low post presence). Just spit-balling...

It would be against Yao's family honor to switch teams. I doubt he moves. Unfortunately Amare is the most realistic option in 2010 unless Wade shares Gabrielle Union with Bosh then we have a shot at landing him. I wouldn't be surprised with Riley coming up with "PJ Brown" -type of signing and surprising everyone. That along with some depth, Beasley, Cook and Chalmers and we are in for Gold for years to come.

Yao seems like a pipedream. I don't want Amare. Is 2010 really coming down to luring Tyson Chandler?

This sucks.

Would the Heat make this trade?:

Bucks give:
Charlie Villanueva
Richard Jefferson
Dan Gadzuric
Charlie Bell

Heat give:
Shawn Marion
Mark Blount

Carlos Boozer is better than Bosh and Stoudemire. If you look at the efficiency stats on nba.com, it really isn't even that close. The only higher efficiency per 48 guys in the entire NBA are James and Paul. That's it.

Please stop with Carlos Boozer! we have a PF in Beasley and we need someone who can play downlow. Amare and Bosh can play Center, Boozer can not! Never been a fan of Boozer. Beasley should be on Boozers level, sooner rather then later.
