I’d be happy with DFS.

I think Pat/Marjon/2nd gets it done for DFS. Then we can move Portis in a separate deal if need be.

Turk Nowitzki wrote:It's tempting because in theory he's a perfect fit for what we need. You'd be praying you can fix something the Warriors havent been able to fix this year which seems iffy. He's been terrible.

We don't talk much anymore about guys putting out in contract years, and then cratering after getting the big deal. That used to be a big topic in the era of Tim Thomas.

But that's what Wiggins has done. He played lights out against the Celtics in the playoffs. Then scored a $109 million extension that guaranteed him 5/$143. He hasn't been seen from since.

Yeah, I’d do that for DFS.

Is there a realistic three and D type of big you could deal Bobby for? I’m not really tuned into the trade market this season.

Wow, I didn’t realize Wiggins is owed 24m for the next 4yrs and he’s 28yrs old now. That’s a tough sell. Not even sure how we come up with that in trade pieces without including Brook which I wouldn’t do. Add in Moody with Wiggins and you’re looking at like 28m in salary you have to match. That just seems impossible lol

I think it’s the personal issue for Wiggins, and you’d have to do your due diligence that the situation would be rectified with a change of scenery.

I’ve seen some state he only had one good season, and he’s packed it in since then, and that’s just not true. He has been good every year in golden state outside this one. His best year may have been last year’s up until the personal matter.

EPM by year:
20: +1.6 (for GSW)
21: +0.7
22: +1.2
23: +1.5

He’s been solid, not spectacular, on both ends which isn’t all that dissimilar from someone like DFS. Wiggins just has more risk attached to him.

As long as Wiggins can still move laterally I think his defensive impact on the staring lineup would be massive. Anything on offense would be a bonus.

He only has one more year on his deal than Khris.

Eww via stein

The Bucks and Mavericks, league sources say, have held exploratory discussions on a trade that would swap Milwaukee's Bobby Portis Jr. and Dallas newcomer Grant Williams.

It is not yet known if the talks will progress to something more serious.

Williams' first season in Dallas has been undeniably disappointing, but his ability to guard a wide variety of players is said to intrigue Milwaukee, which is known to be searching for defensive upgrades.

As covered in Sunday's around-the-league notebook, Milwaukee is as eager to make a move this week as any team in the league in hopes of fortifying its four-man core of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez. But the Bucks’ ability to make a trade of consequence before Thursday's deadline likely depends on its willingness to part with Portis or Pat Connaughton, both members of their 2021 title team.

Williams, 25, is in the first year of a four-year, $53.3 million contract. Portis, 28, makes $11.7 million this season and has two seasons left on his deal, including a $13.4 million player option for 2025-26, after this one.

Can grant even stay in front of the likes of Tatum or Butler? Who is the other Giannis in the east we would need him against? I would almost trade Bobby for anything but Williams is a pass for me.

When we play the Clippers in the finals, Grant Williams and Pj Tucker will be much more useful than Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton. Just projecting here…

Jimmy Butler.

Grant Williams pisses people off on defense. He just does. Is he as good as prime PJ? No, he doesn't have that lateral quickness PJ has. But he can rough guys up. Bobby can't.

Yea not really a Williams fan but in theory it makes sense. Its about same contract but now you're cost controlled for a two more years and he's younger. Is he the ideal level of athletic/mobile? No, but he is moreso than Bobby. I would hope there is better out there but on surface its not the dumbest thing. I'm kind of surprised Dallas wants it, they just signed the guy a few months ago and don't know why they'd really love Bobby unless its all about cost cutting

They should have to give us additional assets to take on that Grant Williams contract at this point.

Williams opens up Giannis at center but Dame/Kris/Giannis/Williams/Brook is very slow
