took my daughter to the Melanie Martinez show on Sat and these guys opened up for her. They were really good live, their studio stuff is way over produced though. Their drummer is great but gets really oversampled in the studio stuff, the vocal harmonies between the lead singer and guitarist are pretty good too. Look forward to seeing more stuff released by them in the future.

My daughter turned me on to these guys. They are really good and have a bit of a Black Keys vibe to me.

My son and I saw Modest Mouse last night, they were absolutely amazing. We ran into a friend after the show who has been going to see them since the late 90s (he's from the PNW so gets legitimate "got in early by luck" credits!) and he said it was close to the best show he's ever seen from them, so if they swing by your way try to get a ticket. They played for around 2 1/2 hours (2 encores) and had a good mix of songs from the breadth of their career (went as far back as Lonesome Crowded West).

I'm in next day euphoria over it, and I'm a huge fan so take it with a grain of salt, but I feel like it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Lolla lineup is out. I went to something like 3 in 5 years but haven't been back for 4-5 years. Not in the cards, but good lineup starting with Radiohead and LCD Soundsystem.

I suppose Tip was the better rapper, but damn if all the ATCQ lines I quote came from Phife. Best insertion of Scott Skiles into lyrics in the history of pop music imo.

Legitimately getting concerned about this m83 album coming out in 3 days. 3rd released track "Go!" is so-so along with "Solitude." "Do it, try it" sucks. I can't believe he's doing this to me.

Alt Rock has blown this year. Some of the albums I was looking forward to have sucked, or the singles from them have sucked (M83 included).

Which makes me even happier for this new Frightened Rabbit.

ETA: Can't post a video I guess? RGM having issues. It's supposed to be the video for 'Get Out.'

M83 is obviously all about Anthony, but I wonder if there's been a bit of an impact from Morgan Kibby opting to focus on solo work? She was the lady voice/keyboardist and apparently a strong voice in the recording studio for Saturdays=Youth and Hurry Up, We're Dreaming; she co-wrote 7 or 8 songs across the two albums, including Kim & Jessie and Midnight City (the big keyboard riff was hers). I don't think she worked on Junk.
