Bojan and Connaughton worse defenders than Payne, let that be a lesson to yaz

Pretty surprised that Mathurin is so high on that list. He seems like he’d have the tools to be a great defender.

Wherez beaz with how this board is a 1 man blame game im surprised hes not on the list

Don't get me wrong, Cam has been a solid RS minutes eater so far, both Beauchamp and Jackson rightfully get playing time to develop (and probably replace Beas and Jae next season), but none of them should see the floor in a playoff game.

All we need is Jae getting to his pre-injury form and Pat showing up again in the playoffs. Once everyone's minutes get higher and the rotation gets tight I think I trust this Top 8 making it to the finals despite having Griffin to coach them.

Lillard (40)/Giannis (4)/Midds (4)
Beasley (32)/Pat (16)
Midds (32)/Jae (16)
Giannis (36)/Bobby (12)
Lopez (36)/Bobby (12)

We are fine. All we need is health.

I’d like a wing defender and mobile defensive minded big in that rotation.

Why does anyone think Pat is just going to show up? You absolutely need a guy with a pulse at guard

What could we offer Orlando for Wendell and Okeke?

You're forgetting to include Scoot in your Portland outbound

(nobody is giving up Pat, Marjon and 4 2nds for Thybulle)

Don’t think there is a deal that works for both sides.

Does MIL have any interest in Brown in the rumored IND-TOR deal?

Careful, you'll have the giannis stans and griff haterz demanding Patty start and log 38 minutes at point guard in the postseason.

Wendell only really makes sense if we move on from Brook (or Bobby and play bigger, but I don't think that's a good idea). And in that case, we're giving up enough value already by including Brook (to a third team).

E.g. Brook to third team, something from third team to Orlando, something from third team and Wendell to us.

Only really makes sense if we're getting exactly what we need from the third team (more well rounded SG or a big wing defender) and are forced to send out Brook for matching purposes or lack of interest in other pieces. But I struggle to identify who fits the bolded mold.

There has been very little speculation over the buyout market here. Trades are fun, but we dont have much leverage there. Buyout market is the opposite. Its us and Phoenix as the top destinations for defensive minded vet ring chasers. Not only are we contenders, but there are real opportunities for minutes and potentially a starting spot.

Horst has already been pretty good at finding guys at buyout. And we can now point to guys like Jevon Carter who made way more money than he ever should have thanks to the Giannis gravity (now shooting 34% from 3 on the Bulls). Or Grayson Allen, who was brought in on a trade but raised his profile, got paid in Milwaukee, and now starts next to KD.

I think we all miss Wes Matthews, and i would love to have him at the very end of our playoff rotation, but he cant be the main get. Wes is 37 now, we need someone in the 27 to 32 range.

I will hopefully dig into this more later, but id love to see some suggestions on this front.

Maybe, but he makes a ton of money for what he is. 22.5 per year. We arent moving that much salary for Bruce Brown.

Pippen Jr signed a two way with the Griz, too bad he’s a good on ball defender. Are we going to sign anyone or just saving spots for 10 day contracts?

AJJ is better than Beasley.

That roster isn’t winning anything without a perimeter defender.
still learning the game

From an article I read on who might be available in buyout and under the 12M: Alec Burks, Delon Wright & Thad Young could maybe help.

We also have to remember the objectives of the players. Griz have like 7 healthy bodies and a lot of meaningless games. He is going to get a lot more court time to showcase himself in Memphis. Just because the Bucks didn't sign someone doesnt mean we didn't ask.

Alright, JRoy, how about this?

Mke: thybulle, Otto porter jr, Jaylin Williams
Tor: Bertans, ‘24 Portland 2nd
Por: ‘24 lac 1st, Thad young
Okc: Bobby, Pat

If you’d prefer a ‘25 first instead of the ‘24, I’m sure that would be fine. Also, marjon or expiring salary in Payne could also be made available by us.

Would Bruce Brown be routed elsewhere if he’d find himself in a Siakam deal?

How would he fit here?

We’d need Toronto to love Bobby and think he’d fill a bigger need than another expensive wing. Could see the Raptors looking closely at Portis during the FVV talks last year fwiw.

MarJon and other pieces would be part of the package too if it were to be a thing.

I don’t think his defense is nearly as good as his reputation suggests, but he does do a lot of the role player things you look for: rebounding, hustle, properly timed cuts, tertiary playmaking, and he’s still a solid defender.

At 22M, though, I’d hope we could find something else.

My guess is that we end up getting Caruso. He’s been the only name that’s been floated a few times from various people, regardless of whether that’s pure speculation or plugged in reporting.

We saw something similar with Jae last year, and I think when Horst zeroes in on a guy he can pursue them a bit myopically.

With that said, he’d be great here.

Not really looking to move Thybulle as he provides a skill set we need. Do not want another FRP in 24 as we already have a high lotto pick and a probable low lotto pick as well as 2 SRP. Am a Thybulle fanboy so would require an overpay.
