Let's remember even more. How many of those games were on a minutes restriction? How many of those games did he just not look like his regular self yet -- just trying to get back? How many of those games did he look completely healthy and 100% on offense and on defense? I'll wait.

No need to wait. I think he looked great this year with his normal amount of stinkers. I think the minutes restriction was lifted after 18 games or so.

By the way, this is actually remembering less, not more. You're now only referring to this year. So yes, he's historically injured a lot, if you consider 'history' to be 'the current season'.

My question was referring to the last 8 years. Even though he played 60+ games those years.. half probably were on minutes restrictions or he looked like he wasn't able to go full speed.. hobbled from something. I rarely remember a full speed Middleton since b4 2016. Maybe in the 2021 playoffs they gave him a really good cortisone shot and he looked great physically in many of those games. Last year he had good stretches early but maybe the shot wore off by the 4th quarter or something.

Eight years ago he missed most of the season with the hamstring, so probably most if not all of the games he played that season, he was on a minutes restriction. After that, he led the team in minutes 3 of the next five seasons and was within 50-60 minutes the other two. So I do think your memory is bad.

Luckily we got Gallo to replace Midds when he's out!

Looks like Doc sees him as a 4/5 at this point. Is this his 1st go? Was he always a wing?

Not only that, apparently Khris used to 'unconsciously drain threes' which has never been his game, a source of frustration to some. Now I guess we have Beasley.

Well... this isn't all the way real, is it. The main reasons posters here told me we "couldn't" trade Midds for Butler at that time was because Midds spreads the floor for Giannis and Butler doesn't --- I was scolded that since Butler plays in the mid-range he's a bad fit with Giannis because no one spreads the floor then. Now here we are a few years later and 3s aren't his game anymore and mid-range MIddleton is a good fit but mid-range Butler wasn't? No, Midds has ALWAYS been able to hit 3s and spread the floor and has that skill set still. He chose to pattern his game more after the Paul George types that shoot more 2s -- probably because you aren't as reliant on someone getting you nice pass for your catch and shoot 3 and you can impose your will more. At his current age, his current health situation, his current physical abilities, and our current roster... he helps us RN if he will focus on that side of his talent, morph into a sharp shooter and keep the lane clear and doubles off of Dame and GA.. this also will extend his career because he won't be down by the 7 footers and taking the punishment that goes along with that. This is just MY OPINION; I don't know better than Doc so I will trust how Doc uses him and hope it all works out.

Amick interviewed Giannis after the Kings game. Some excerpts.

Yeah, it’s … it’s … it’s hard. I feel like for me, this has been the hardest season that I’ve played — not only physically, because I had the procedure done on my left knee in the end of June. And I had to get back to myself. I feel like when the season started, I wasn’t (myself). And the reason was that I hadn’t played basketball until like the second week of training (camp). I had to get back to being by myself. But emotionally, and mentally, it’s been draining. I’m not going to lie to you. It’s been extremely tough, from Coach Bud (Mike Budenholzer) being let go (after the Bucks fell to Miami in the first round of the playoffs) to Coach Griff (Adrian Griffin) coming in, being let go, then (interim) Coach Joe (Prunty) for three games, Coach Doc (Rivers) coming in, and then you have Dame. It’s been tough. But at the end of the day, I think when you face adversity in life, that’s when you excel the most. So I’m just trying to, as a leader, as a basketball player, as a person, just trying to do what I do, keep on enjoying the game of basketball, keep on hanging in there, keep on trying to improve my game, doing the right thing. And hopefully, step by step, I get where I want to go and I’m able to help the team get where we want to go.

I’m confident in my work. If I don’t work, I’m not confident in myself. If I don’t put the work in, I’m the most not-confident guy ever. But when I work, when I go after the game and I lift my weights, I’m confident that when I play Philly in two days (on Thursday) I’m confident. I put the work in, and no matter the outcome, I can live with it. That’s how I get my confidence. I am not as talented as Dame. I am not as talented as Malik. I am not as talented as Bobby. But I’m confident in the work that I put in, and I can live with the outcome.

I ask you, and you. I ask everybody, or I ask my wife, ‘Babe, am I the MVP of this league?’ She’ll say, ‘Babe, you’re the MVP of my heart. I don’t care.’ If I ask my brothers, they’ll say, ‘We’re the MVP of life. We don’t care.’ I will never, never, in my life, fall into the bubble and say, ‘Yeah, I’m the MVP of the league’ and whine and cry or say, ‘Give it to me. I deserve it more.’ That’s not what I do, man. That’s not what I do. I don’t do that. But that, sometimes — my agent says this, but I don’t give a f— what my agent says — he says that s— hurts me too because they overlook me. Yeah, they overlook me. OK (shrugs). What can I do? What can I do? We can go home, huh?
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Where are you getting this notion that KM doesn't shoot 3s anymore or that people are saying to not shoot 3s? People saying that he is also good at midrange as a plus does not mean he shoudl only do that. No one is saying its all or nothing the way you seem to be that you have to only shoot 3s. We all know 3 is worth more than 2, you have not revolutionized or invented that notion, we all know it.

Khris is shooting 6.2 3s per 36 mins this year. Last 5ish years before it was in the 7 area per 36. Likely reason is his overall FGA are down about 3 per 36 and its likely due to you know, adding Dame. You've created a whole narrative in your head that all KM does is shoot mid ranges and its just not based in reality. He's alwasy been on the higher side of of 3PA and will continue to be going forward, its just a positive that he caaaan do more at times with his height and midrange stuff. It is better to also have that rather than only be able to catch/shoot like a Beaz/Allan/Danny Green etc.

In addition, Jimmy has been about 2 per 36 mins the last chunk of years and is about 32% career vs KM 39%. So yea, in theory Jimmy's game does not mesh with Giannis's all that well. In general, someone with that skillset is not who we should target. However, in hindsight with how Jimmy surprisingly didn't fall off a cliff due to being worked to death by Thibs along with him proving his playoff craziness combined with KMs injuries it would've been the right trade (if we knew he'd sign long term, which is still a big maybe). And of course who knows if we still win a title or not

I appreciate your response and it makes sense. Just want to add a few more details, as it relates to our current roster. What happens on any Giannis post? Double.. who's open? 3 point shooters. Whenever Dame has the ball basically anywhere what happens? Double team.. who's open? 3 point shooters. If Dame and Giannis do any 2 man game or PnR what happens? A 3rd defender usually leaves his man... who's open? 3 point shooters. If KM set a Pick and Pop on top; who will they leave open? Dame or KM? KM - open 3 pointer.

Check all the actions and off ball movement in this video of Nash/Staudamire.. 90% of the time the other 3 players are outside the 3 point line to create space and get open 3 pointers. Absolutely I agree with you that KM can still spread the floor and also I'd like him to take some of the 3's that Beas/Brook/Pat/etc get - in addition to his normal amount. So yeah, 10 threes per game seems very possible with this roster and this assembly of talent. Him being out now should have been a great time for him to get his 3 point stroke heated up along with his give-up-the-ball-to-Dame skills. Last night vs the Sixers, did you notice that whenever Dame didn't bring the ball up there was chaos and disorganization? And GA had tons of turnovers when he tried?... We need some discipline and structure in our offense and this is how we get it.

Does anyone understand why Brook feels the need to shoot 28-foot 3’s when he can stand closer?

If he gets too close, the basket will only count for two points.

Some of it is a drawback on setting high screens for Dame. On the pick and pop for brook, he’s not quick enough to get into a better position. The other part is probably just brooks comfort with range.
