I'm guessing averaging only 2 pts and 2 boards when he played for that ECF team had something to do with it.

I'm guessing much of this is by design, though.

Very possible and I'm sure Duke will be able to replace nearly all of it with new players who are just as good or better

Yeah their recruiting class is outstanding this year, even for them. I imagine they will be getting some transfers, too.

I received the email from the NCAA for FInal Four ticket lottery 2025 (in San Antonio). $300 per person gets you into the semis and finals. Upper level of the Alamodome. You can't pick your section or seats. You have to pay in full now and they will refund you if you are not picked. But you still have to pay a $25 application fee. It would be nice if regular fans had a shot at semi decent seats but apparently not. It would be fun to go to a Final 4 and San Antonio is cool but I'll pass. First/second round are at FiServ, I would probably go to some of that depending which teams.

Yeah, I'm not sure why anyone would do this.

You might win out if it's a premier matchup and it's like Kentucky vs. Texas with Kansas vs. UConn to fill up the stadium in San Antonio.

I've gone to the UW/Duke final and Virginia/Texas Tech final...Badgers game may have been ~$100...UVA game I probably paid $65. Nosebleeds in both cases, but I guess the idea is that you can just wait and probably beat those prices or not do much worse.

We paid much more for our 2015 FF tickets, but we went the official route, did so immediately after UW clinched, had full-session tickets (FF and Championship), and we had our pick of decent seats - not floor, not nosebleed. They were $700 a piece for the session in 2015, though, so $300 doesn't strike me as a bad 'get in early' deal despite not getting your pick of ticket and having no idea who's going.

You can obviously go different routes here, and scalping or secondary market might just be easiest honestly because a whole bunch of people will have tickets that won't end up going due to their team missing, but if you know you want to go regardless or you have high confidence your team could be there (e.g. Duke, UConn), I think it's a solid enough deal. Honestly who cares where you end up sitting TBH, it's all about being there when it's the FF.

The one time I ever bought NCAA tourney tickets was in 2018, when Virginia was the top overall seed and the regional was in Atlanta. For sure they were going to get to at least the Sweet Sixteen and I could go see them. Definitely.

Fortunately, I was able to sell them for a small profit to a Kentucky fan.

I did the lottery in 2015 figuring since it was actually a drivable distance to Indy I'd go even UW didn't make it, just to go to the event. Got lucky and won the lottery and we made it, heck of a weekend until the last 12 mins of the title game. But I don't think it was near that much, top of my head I think $175. And yes they still did the ridiculous application fee cash grab back then. Pretty sure my friends paid much more for similar tickets.

But yes a seat in the upper deck of a football stadium is not good, watched most on the big screen.

Brutal loss for UWGB given the timing. Sundance had completely turned the program around in 1 year

Doug Gottlieb is a "serious candidate" for UWGB, per Rothstein.

Was a finalist last year, would certainly be an "interesting" hire. Not sure if interesting is good though
