Marjon is like a wood panel station wagon. It's cool, right and it hauls a lot of stuff. Groceries, patio blocks, bags of leaves, you name it. Now Dre is like instead of getting a wood panel station wagon, you end up with, I dunno, like a Fore Aerostar. And you're like what the hell I do not see any wood on this vehicle. But the Aerostar can haul even more bricks and such. And the station wagon doesn't even have a tape deck. But the station wagon is still nice.

Marjon is like if you have a really great sword with no training, and also sometimes the sword is sad and you can't swing it. Dre is like if you are a genius.

Hear me out: Let's do this and also play him 15 starting minutes too.

I would honestly play him 30 mpg and just see what happens. This is one of the many reasons I’m not coaching in the NBA but screw it. I think he’s ready lol. Or at least he’s close enough that a bunch of playing time will get him there.

I'll convert either way but prefer we pick one because I keep thinking we have another guy on the roster I'm not aware of when I go back to seeing Dre.
You can call him A or you can call him J, or you can call him Dre Jr., but ya doesn't have to call him Jackson.

He ticks a lot of boxes for what we need.
Smart. Athletic. Long. Disruptive. Handles. Vision. Rebounds. Deflections. Smart.
Yayaya the shot, but he can hit a wide-open corner three at an okay enough clip to be passable. Everything else he brings is solid gold.

But AJ Green makes AJ confusing. Maybe AJJJ? A J-cubed?

Re: #36 - Andre Jackson Jr
I dont think there is any way he is starting, but let's do an exercise
I think Dre starts with a baseline of 10 minutes per game. Usually he will play less but blowout garbage time will inflate that number. Who can he take minutes from to expand his role?
These are all guys who are going to get their minutes and there's no way Dre is cutting into any of them.
Giannis
Dame
Khris
Brook
These guys are extremely entrenched but there's at least a degree of wiggle room to chip away
Bobby
Pat
Beasley (not because of how good he is, but because of how perfectly he fits the role we need him for)
These are the guys who start with a higher profile but are vulnerable. Everyone after this point is on relatively the same terrain as Dre although I'm thinking Marjon and Green will get into the game earlier for now.
Jae
Cam Payne
Each of these guys are due for 15 to 20 minutes per game, i would think. It's possible Jae is a guy that Griff loves and he's more entrenched than it seems right now. It's also possible he's washed. It's also possible that Cam shoots well and makes himself valuable.. but his 3 point percentages vary pretty wildly from season to season especially when you look at the tight/open/wide open splits.. nothing is consistent and that's very strange compared to most of the guys i look up. Also, if you look at our contracts, Cam is easily the most tradeable trade chip we have with him being on a 1 year 6m deal. Everyone else either makes far more, a lot less, or isn't someone we should move (depending how you feel about Bobby). I wouldn't be surprised if Cam was signed specifically to be trade filler if we want to combine him and a scrub or two to get someone that makes around 10M. Combine him with Bobby and a scrub and we're at 20M.
Anyway.. Dre is trying to get minutes as a 2nd round rookie on a contending team that just fired their championship coach and traded for an elite player. Pressure is high. He's really going to have to earn it. But I think he has a path to getting on the floor and if Cam isn't hitting his shots or Jae continues to look washed.

And can I just say I had the original Iggy comp on this board for this fine young lad.
Still a ceiling comp, but it is coming together.

Re: #36 - Andre Jackson Jr
god damn, was Jackson good.
he already has a "thing" on the court. of course, there are many "things" he does that are a work in progress, but Jackson's first well defined thing is that he's always looking to advance the ball IMMEDIATELY if there's a transition opportunity regardless of the angle to the hoop. He's getting steals or jumping on deflections and then flipping the ball down court, often no look, in order to create high percentage opportunities. he's also got a nose for the ball and is aggressive in batting it out for a second opportunity.
what i want to see him refine first and foremost is to chill on going so high in situations like the Lofton foul. if he hadn't caught hold of the hoop (which was **** bonkers in the moment) he could have really hurt himself.
i can't really understand how he was a second round pick. he's a winning player out of the gates. he will struggle against crafty vets for now because he's so trigger happy, but whatever. he can be more than just a defensive specialist. he can be a special player.

Re: #36 - Andre Jackson Jr
He was a second rounder because the league has skewed so far to analytics and playing five out at all times that anyone they can’t see as a legit immediate good three point shooter gets ignored.
Which is funny because the analytics actually show that AJJ might have been the most important player in terms of making his team better than anyone in college basketball last season. He just did it in every facet other than shooting and shooting is the only things teams care about right now.
I’d also give him 25-30 mpg immediately and see what happens. Any minute they give to Beasily should just be given to AJJ instead.
The only argument to start slow with AJJ is that you don’t want him to hit a rookie wall because he is going to be a massive role player for them in the playoffs.
Outside of young Giannis and Midds, and maybe rookie Brogdam, AJJ is the most talented young player the Bucks have had since like Ray Allen.
Someone screenshot all this because I’ll eat crow if AJJ isn’t a legit rotational player within a couple years, if not sooner. He’s above average to phenomenal at every aspect of basketball except shooting.

Not to be that guy but .29 is not gonna cut it, he'll need at least .33 unless he's Draymond good and you can't leave him out.

No functional difference between these numbers.
