Yes. It's a pure show of good faith on Gianni's part. No benefit to extending now besides quieting the noise and locking in.

He can opt out sooner to sign a new deal and eventually make more in the long run. So he’s taking one less guaranteed year right now for the chance to make more of the course of his career.

Then again, that one less guaranteed year was only if he waited to sign until next offseason, so he’s locking in another $186M no matter what AND can make more in the long run by doing it now.

What a strange turn of events. Even when he gave up he’ll be stupid to sign the deal now he does it anyway?

Wonder how much he realised he wouldn’t have it any better than he does with the Bucks? Now we gotta pray his game ages better than some think.

Somebody said it earlier, but I suddenly am fine with how bad the Packers look.

Tears of joy right now. Our Tim Duncan is here to stay. Now let him get another couple titles.

The city of Milwaukee & the state of Wisconsin will never have an athlete treat them better than Giannis does. He took less money to commit early. We are so incredibly lucky to have him.
I will say, I had been critical of Jon Horst the last 2 years, but this offseason he completely nailed it. Even the Griff hire which I'm skeptical of from a coaching standpoint, you can't argue the results. Getting Dame & Giannis locked in is a massive massive win.
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Has anyone mentioned the Athletic article that dropped today about the Lillard trade and Giannis extension?

"When Lillard was convinced that Miami was off the table, Goodwin wanted to know if the Bucks were among the teams in serious pursuit of his seven-time-All-Star client. They weren’t.

But when that backchannel blessing was given, with the Bucks learning that Lillard would be excited about a possible partnership with the Bucks, the chase was on. And so the work began for Horst and his small group of trusted front office associates.

Their days would often start before 7 a.m. and end after the local pubs closed at 2 a.m., with the Bucks analyzing the possible addition of Lillard — and the loss of Holiday and Allen — from every possible angle. The two-hour time zone difference between Portland and Milwaukee played a part in the late hours, as Horst wanted Cronin to be able to call and share ideas whenever he so pleased. For nearly two weeks, the process of landing Lillard consumed them."

Horst set up a secret office in the lockerroom because they couldn't have it publicly leaked that Holiday was involved and they were working on it from 7am to 2am for two weeks.

I guess lakers/warriors fans will have to make up nonsense about every other star going there now.

Happy for you guys. Congrats.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
