Game 38: Celtics at Bucks - 1/11/24 - 6:30 - TNT - Dame Returns

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Wed Jan 10, 2024 10:03 pm

I think a majority of the board are hoping for a loss, a bad loss, as the final straw to make a coaching change. I'm not convinced at all that it will happen. So I will root for a win.

Celtics are playing very well, we are playing very poorly. While I root for a win, I will be surprised by a win.

Dame is back. Cam practiced today but has not yet been cleared to play.

Porzingas is sitting out tonight against the Wolves with a right knee contusion but is expected to play this one. Horford is playing tonight so perhaps sits Thursday, I don't believe it plays B2B.

Jrue will get a great ovation (deserved) and I assume a video tribute (deserved).

Go Bucks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

"Joe, why did you guys shut down Tatum, Porzingis and Horford for this game against another Eastern conference contender?"

"Needed Griffin to keep his job."

The headline reads "Dame returns". If only it also said that Griffin doesn't.

I don't think that's the case. I don't want us to lose. But I know if we win it'll be an ugly win. We will have been down by 20+ at some point playing just horribly, and managed to claw it back (like the first time we played them where we lost by 3 in Boston). And it will be on the back of some individual brilliance. Nothing to do with any in-game coaching moves.

Losing to the Jazz should have done it but here we sit. Get blown out 1st half and 2nd half we make it close.

Hoping that Jrue gets a nice ovation and that the Bucks win. I expect only one of these to happen

I absolutely hate losing to the Celtics, it feels like we’ve been blown out the last 4-5 times we’ve played them. They’re clearly the best team in the league right now and having a good game against them would get my hopes up that we might have that “switch”. I’m not that confident though.

The Celtics have lost a few games this season that they shouldn't have lost. So there is some hope at least.

Already annoyed at how many layups we're going to miss.

On one hand this game feels absolutely massive for the Bucks. More than basically any regular season game in recent memory imo. But on paper it's also a game the Bucks should win, Boston is mediocre on the road and we've had two days off and are basically are only missing one bench player while Boston will be on the 2nd night of a b2b. I feel like we either get blown out or we really show up and take care of business.

Just want the crew to show some pride and compete. Regardless of the result. W would be great, of course.

A signature Giannis/Dame "We own the floor" type of game would be the bees knees.

I'm not rooting for a loss because that would suggest that our FO hasn't seen enough to think firing Griff is justified yet, which means we're probably not in good hands to begin with.

I also feel like the locker room culture is coming unglued and don't know if firing the coach will necessarily salvage that anyway.

Unless the coach and how he has been coaching has been the cause of a lot of it to begin with.

Saying firing him won't necessarily salvage the locker room isn't the same as saying he's blameless there or that he shouldn't be fired. It's just that if he's inevitably going to be fired anyway I'd rather at least try to build good vibes and chemistry back up irrespective of what he's doing. If you told me losing by 40 guaranteed him being gone the next day then sure I'll take it but I don't think it's that binary - I don't fully believe that whether they want to keep him or not is contingent on him winning this Celtics game. Or would rather not believe that anyway.

If they haven’t fired Grief yet, I’m sad to say I don’t think it’s happening during the season. They’re going to let him ride it out barring the team falling into the play-in or something.

The talkabout players & coach back/forth from the game against Utah suggests they're responsible for any locker room tension. That wasn't there under Bud.

Celtics going into OT, Horford will sit. We are destined to win this and all the idiot fans will think everything is OK again and Greif will keep his job. This is so depressing.

If the core guys can will a win in spite of Griff's obstacle of a scheme. That would at least be good for morale. But that guy really needs to go.
