Game 40: Kings at Bucks - 1/14/24 - Khris Out, Giannis Questionable

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sun Jan 14, 2024 4:59 am

The Bucks chose not to push this back an hour to avoid football overlap which is weird since 7:00 is the normal start time. Plus a lot of people off Monday. Open FiServ early, show the game on the scoreboard, sell lots of food and drink ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bucks turn to be on a B2B (and 3 in 4). Kings are a good team, this will be tough. Next week is light (Wed/Sat) so I expect everyone to play except may Khris. He played the first half of the second game of a B2B but that was a national game so he may sit this one out.

Crowder did another 5 on 5 Saturday. If he's feeling good he likely returns next week.

Go Bucks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Kings feel a bit Indiana West. Young speedy guys that can give us problems.

We had an 8 man rotation. Hope it's not cause we are punting this one..

It’s because Grief has an ultimatum to turn things around and he knows he can’t trust Marjon or Cam. Not sure why he trusts Pat so much though as Pat has looked really awful most of the season.

Outside of his three point shooting against the Heat in the playoffs, he’s looked bad since the calf injury at the start of last season. Role players who rely mainly on athleticism likely won’t be super productive after 30.

B2B 3 in 4 against a good young team sounds like a Schedule L. I'd be surprised to win this one, would take a crazy game from AJJ or Marjon or Green hits 5 threes.

I don’t understand why they didn’t move this game back an hour at least. That is an unforced error by the Bucks org

With this weather that would be insane. If it wasn't a back to back I would have hoped they moved this game to noon.

DISSOLVE TO WINDOWLESS CONFERENCE ROOM. HARSH DOWNLIGHTING. SFX: Harp arpeggio.

JON HORST: I'm giving you an ultimatum, first year coach. Turn things around.
ADRIAN GRIFFIN: Got it, Mr. Horst. You want a complete 360?
JON HORST: No, we tried that already.

Even if you moved the game back an hour, you'd still run into the same issue. Its not like there'll be 15k people watching the Packers game at Mecca. You'll get a lot of people waiting until the end of the game and then leaving afterwards and would probably arrive in the middle of the 1st quarter at the earliest and with the weather being what it is, a decent percentage of the people would say f it and just watch the game at home.

Yeah, don't really think there's a difference between a -24 and -25 wind chill.

You already have people saying f it and watching the game at home. By pushing it back you at least give people an option, come downtown early. Watch the Packers at FiServ or any of the surrounding bars, then the Bucks in person. By overlapping they have no choice. You miss the last part of a playoff game if you want to go to the Bucks game. I would have loved to see the Kings in their only visit. But instead I'll stay home and watch on TV. An hour/90 minutes would have been easy to do, they've known for a week. Not all Bucks fans are football fans of course but many are. An easy solution and they punted.

I think the issue would've been there regardless. I think the choice was having people with divided attention for the first quarter-first half vs the possibility of a half-empty arena because people may make the late decision to not go because the weather or because they're in a really good mood or really bad mood which for different reasons could make them decide to not go. Because they played last night a noon game is off the table and that was the only option that would've avoided this issue altogether.

Well Dre had a Net Rating 2.2 for the game and Beasley had a Net Rating of 21.1 so there may be some truth to that.

Griff going offense/ defense with the 2 was an obvious factor, as was AJJs minutes without the big 4.

Griffin might have to play an actual basketball player with 30 seconds left in the half.
