Props to Cleveland. They beat the crap out of us down low, and we were working so hard to generate offense inside, so the bad shooting was extra painful. Giannis ran out of gas, The Cavs shut down the lobs and back cuts in the second half, and the shooting never came online. The iso ball was brutal, but I think it was a symptom of everything else not working.

Also, Allen's verticality is always going to be a problem, but it's just a free roll until we get a second big back into place to get the board on Brook's alters. I'm hoping it was obvious to Doc watching up in the suite.

Did we ever try playing inside-out during that 17-2 stretch?

I can’t remember all the looks, but I do remember multiple instances of all 5 dudes standing outside the 3pt line without the ability to beat their guy off the dribble.

That’s what I thought. 7-24, 2-10 from 3 with more turnovers than assists. When he sucks we are a bad team since he brings nothing to the table other than offense. Jrue last year was a much better overall player than what we are getting from Dame this year.

Jrue shot 40% from the field, 28.5% from 3, and gave up 37.6 points per game to Jimmy in the playoffs last year. Jrue right now as a 2nd/3rd option would look putrid. There is zero chance we’d be better with him and zero chance we’d have been able to fetch anything better. Love the guy, but longing for him is strange.

For 9 years Dame had the same offensive minded coach with a team built solely for him. 9 years. One year with Billups (not sure how much the offense changed) and then he comes here to possibly the worst NBA coach of all time, a superstar who doesn’t have the attention span to run a two man game more than a once a quarter, and a bunch of guys who for the last 5 years have done nothing but stand in a box on offense waiting for kick-outs.

Like yeah, no wonder he doesn’t look like he did in Portland. And it’s crazy to think we had that coach who orchestrated that offense on our staff and let an absolute moron force him to quit.

When can we stop making excuses for Dame?

When you stop pining for the guy who shot 30 FREAKING % from 3 in the playoffs the last 3 years and 45% from 2 and was left wide open so his man could double Giannis. Idc if Jrue was the greatest defensive player alive (who somehow got roasted by Jimmy), his offense was so putrid that teams didn't even bother covering him. Some of you have some serious memory problems.

Jrue against Miami last year playoffs - 40% FG 28% 3p 69% FT LMAO
Against Boston previous year when we lost - 36% FG 30% 3p 95% FT LMAO

You know part of defense is making your guy work on the other side of the ball, with Jrue though whoever is supposed to guard him can just take a vacation on defense and use their energy on offense.

This was probably the biggest nothing-burger loss of the season and the Dame criticism is weird as hell. Didn't think the officials were gonna swallow their whistles and ref this like it was Game 7 of the NBA Finals, but they certainly let the Cavs get away with murder in the post. Whatever, team clearly ran out of gas and had probably their worst 2nd half of the year. It happens.

This game was our third worst ORTG of the year so far at 98. The worst - 95 in our 40 point loss to Cleveland.

This loss and the reaction to it just go to show that when we as fans have high expectations, there is absolutely no way to lose that the fans (especially ones as terminally online as we are) will say "yknow what, I'm okay with how that went." Every loss is the result of some glaring, unsolvable roster issue.

In this case we dealt with an issue that basically hasn't been an issue all season (guys going cold from the field and the offense looking bad) while showing some life on defense (as low as we've set those standards) and there are people basically pushing for a fire sale. Hell if anything I'd rather see Dame have a bad game because he chucked a little too much as opposed to looking passive and disinterested like earlier in the season.

We should have fired Griffin, but kept him as the interim until Doc took over.

First game they ran some actual plays and PnR then they stopped. Maybe the coach could have drawn up a single non-ISO play during a time out.

I would agree. The point I was trying to make was that coaches probably do draw up plays, but I don't think any of the players including Giannis and Mids listen to it because they are use to doing it their own way.

Maybe they’ll listen to Doc? They listened to Bud during 2021 or maybe they listened to Player Coach PJ.

That was actually some fine D played given that we're running a rotation full of corpses.
