Game 53: Hornets at Bucks - 2/9/24 - 7:00 - BSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Fri Feb 9, 2024 4:35 am

Hornets have lost 9 straight.

Marques said during the broadcast tonight that Dame is expected to play.

Khris is out.

Beverley is expected to play.

Let's get this win, we have another(!) B2B Monday/Tuesday (Nuggets/Heat)

Go Bucks
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

With Dame back I’m guessing they roll with this starting unit:
C Brook
PF Giannis
SF Crowder
SG Dame
PG PatC

Coulda swore in a phone call on his podcast Bev said that he wasn't playing until Sunday vs Denver, but I honestly have no clue if we play Denver on Sunday, so I dunno.

He did say something about Denver. We play them Monday. He got into town last night. It's possible that paperwork/physical will prevent him from playing tonight.

To be fair to the team, I can’t remember a schedule like they’ve had the last two weeks. Denver to Portland to Dallas then back to Utah for a B2B, then to Phoenix. Then fly home for a B2B, two days off, then another B2B.

Like wtf is this.

Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this crappy Charlotte team.

Whelp, this should definitely be a win no matter who suits up. The Hornets suck with Ball. Without him, they're playing at a "worst team in NBA history" pace (-13.2 net-rating). No excuses.

If we lose, is Doc on the hot seat?

Toss AJG out there with the starters. Something has to fall our way this season. Maybe it's him.

He won't, but you won't see me defending him.

I don't think anything could get Doc on the hot seat. You ride it out to year-end. If we lose in R1, I could see there being a come to Jesus moment at the end of the season and whether this team or any version of it is worth paying the tax.

I'm not saying we are that team, but I just saying I see a scenario where we blow it up.

Worst loss of the year last year was to a horrible Hornets team at home hopefully history doesn’t repeat itself.

Would be nice to rack up some wins. A loss would be pretty horrible. But I’ve convinced myself that nothing aside from injuries matter until the playoffs.

I would not be shocked if we are the best team in basketball post all star break or if we lose 4-1 in the first round to Cavs/Knicks/Pacers or if we make the finals as a play-in team a la Miami. Just gonna sit back and experience the ride.

Yeah, despite the record I still think we looked better overall on that road trip than we did under Griff. Our quality of opponent just went way up and they were all on the road. Last night sucked but we were also missing two max players.

Just hope Doc hasn't gone too far in convincing the team that it's all about the playoffs and the regular season doesn't matter.
