Game 59: Hornets at Bucks - 2/27/24 - 7:00 - BSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Feb 26, 2024 6:31 pm

First of two straight against Charlotte (Thursday at Charlotte).

We crushed them in our first two meetings. But they have been playing well, winning 5 of their last 6. No word on Middleton, guessing he won't play ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hollinger says they're lucky right now on opponents wide open/open 3 pt%.

As we learned in Memphis before ASW, you can’t take any NBA team lightly. We need to impose our will and dominate Charlotte like it’s game 7 of a playoff series. We need to play these last 24 games like that and we can beat anyone standing in our path to another championship. Need to keep the gravy train rolling, LETS. ****. GO.

Losing this game would be very deflating, hard to say if it would "un-do" the last 2 wins but it would be close

I got a burning feeling in my loins that we are about to go on a double digit win streak. Yea I said it. That would mean taking down the Clippers (x2), Warriors and Lakers.

If that burning persist for more than 4 hours you may want to......

But yeah, it definitely feels like this team said its time to be playing like we can and should. And with the improved defense, we don't need this offense to get too much better before we are pretty dominant.

A couple of good opportunities to put those "Pining for the Grant Williams trade that didn't happen" takes to bed.

I'm not gonna bank on going 4-0 on that brutal West coast trip, but I do think that 56-wins is pretty possible with how we've been playing. Once we get to mid-late March, the schedule isn't that bad at all.

I'm a big fan of the more difficult schedule on the back half of the season.

Same. Iron sharpens iron. I'd be leerier if we beat a bunch of cream-puff tanking teams heading into the playoffs. Time to settle into a playoff rotation and work out the rest of the kinks. I think the team itself will get a better gauge of their ceiling on both sides of the ball playing a harder schedule.

So yeah, since January 1st (26 games) our bench is ranked 27th in the league, being outscored by 11 points per 100 possessions with Bobby on the floor.

We badly need to figure out how to get our bench more productive.

Portis is the only one on the bench that can create his own shot and it's just a backdown ISO. Everyone else including Bobby's 3s lives off buckets created by Giannis, Dame, KM or movement. So the bench is really just how much passing and movement are happening.

Maybe the bench gets better if Gallo gets his shot going and they run the ISOs they would for Bobby through him instead when it’s one of those nights that Bobby’s shot isn’t dropping?

Gallo can hit others when they move off ball and can get looks for himself.
