Still doesn't excuse what we're doing defensively. Just having these guys instantly get back on D would save us 5-15 points a game

It is, but that still doesn't mean that Doc isn't a really bad NBA head coach.

It's insane to me that there are NBA General managers who collect a pay check that would still actually hire him in 2024. Unfortunately, Horst being one of them.

I was always a Doc guy, too. But seeing Doc up close with the Bucks, wow is he bad and holy **** was I wrong.

I do think Doc was a good coach in the past, I think part of his problem is he's one of those guys who the game has passed by. He's outdated.

Does Doc know he can play who he thinks wants to be there? Maybe try something different? C'mon man. I think he's far from our biggest issue but at least try some ****.

The fact that I was always a guy who kind of stuck up for Doc in the past when people said he sucked is going to be a trip for me.

Because the people who said Doc sucked and I defend Doc against.

Are now going to be some of the same people who are going to try and tell me that Doc doesn't suck.

Bucks are 6-7 in their last 13 games. If AG went 6-7 in any stretch there would be 20 fire AG threads.

Our 2019 squad with Ersan, Brogdon, Bledsoe and not yet over the hill George Hill, Brook, Khris and Pat was arguably our most talented team.

Since then:

Middleton - aging out
Brogdon - gone
Ersan - aged out
Hill - aged out
Pat - aging out
Brook - aging out

We subbed out Bledsoe for Jrue, but to do that we had to give up two decent players and five years of draft control. But then we traded three more years of draft control and Jrue for Dame. That’s a massive asset spend for those two PG upgrades.

But we just haven’t replaced any of the guys above, even though they need replacing.(and that’s before we discuss the downgrade in head coach)

Doc's coached for 20+ years, if you asked him, nothing has ever been his fault.

I don't see how they can roll out with the nursing home again next year, but with Doc still under contract, I'm sure that's what we'll get.

Curious what this approach would look like. I've been toying around with some ideas, but it is really tough to see a path with our current asset base. Can't see them successfully selling Giannis on trading Dame or Khris, both of whom are also ranked in the top 10 of worst value contracts in the league (right or wrong, that's the perception.)

There are some decent parallels to that Cavs team Lebron was carrying post Kyrie being traded. They weren't very good and struggled along to about 50 wins each year but benefited from a pretty poor Eastern Conference. We have Giannis doing the heavy lifting on a team with guys who are on the downward slopes of their careers.

There's indeed a scenario where this squad is just limping through the dog days of the end of the season and they'll pick it up come Playoff time. We've seen what they can do when engaged (OKC, Denver, Boston games to name a few) but I don't think they they have the juice to sustain a deep run.

Based on the standings as they currently are, our path ahead could look something like Miami > Cleveland > Boston > Denver.

You'd have to be pretty brave (foolish?) to back this Bucks squad to run that gauntlet successfully.

Doc has choked at the end of the season at every team he's coached yet we still hired him.
Ask any Philly fan and they were thrilled he was gone. Ask any Clipper fan, ecstatic he's gone. Ask any Celtic fan and they'll tell you the same thing.
He flat refuses to play young guys. The vets we have are old and worn out. What a terrible combination.

I'd be 100% fine with Giannis holding his teammates accountable. Prime MJ, Kobe, Larry, & Magic would have subbed in Marjon and AJJ themselves. They would have told Doc to get somone on the floor who wants to play.
Giannis is just too nice.

Observing? Taking notes? WTF? You're the head coach making millions. Set the **** standard. Fix whatever doesn't meet the standard immediately. That's your **** job. What a completely dumb ass statement.

It sounds like someone trying to sound smart who doesn't have a **** clue.

The Bucks look more like a disorganized team that plays with a lack of effort than they do old.

Sure, they're an older veteran team, but simply just chalking them up to being old is an easy excuse.

A team with prime Giannis & a not washed up Dame shouldn't be struggling to play .500 basketball since January.

The Bucks look totally disorganized like they have no clue what they are actually trying to do on the court as a unit. That and they don't really play with any effort and enthusiasm, like half the team looks like they would rather be doing something else other than playing a basketball game.

If you want to say that we're an old, worn out team that ran out of gas if we lost in 6 or 7 games in the ECF to the Celtics. Then you have a case.

But not when we're losing to the Wizards, Grizzlies G-league squad and losing by 35 to teams like the Kings & Warriors.

This is a poorly coached team that doesn't care. It's pretty obvious.
