Who'd make us most regret trading him?

Post#1 » by schweig » Sat Jan 5, 2008 10:58 am

Yi's an easy answer because he's still so early in his NBA development.

Mo could kill us with a few buzzer-beaters.

Bogut seems like an obvious choice, "What if he becomes 20-15-5 right after that?" But I'd like to call him out. Will he ever go hard to the rack more than a few times a week? What's up with his game anyway? He's been solid on defense but there's only one other guy on the team pulling down 5+ rebounds a game and Andrew just can't seem to keep it together for very long.
If we traded him and played against him, our center at that time might not score a ton, but he would probably pull down some boards and collect 2-10 blocks or so.

I say Michael would make us regret a trade the most by far, maybe even over Yi and his potential. Whatever he does and doesn't bring to the game every night, he's our best and most talented player by far, and it'd be tough to bring in more talent or even a brighter future by trading him.
Sometimes we have weird values of our own vs. others' players, and if some guy named Mike Schredd out of Oklahoma State were on another team with the exact same game, a lot of us would have respect for what he brings. Our offense blows and he can score at will almost any night. If we think we're in a black hole now, I'd hate to see what trading Mike for expirings or anything less than more talent would do. He's far from the biggest problem, his contract isn't a bad value at all, and it wouldn't foster a winning environment all by itself.

Other than Michael, this thread could be called, "Who's being misused the worst?" I guess that means Michael's the only one good enough to let his game shine through regularly in spite of what might be poor game-planning, although he could definitely use more coaching too.

CV has played himself down to a footnote here but given the quality of our roster and the fact that he seems to be the odd man out anyway, I'll include him. I could see another coach using him to his strengths and getting rebounding and a little more efficent scoring from him, why didn't we do that? Bobby's in because his time here is beginning to seem truly cursed so far, and we never really got to see him yet. I left Sessions out because he's such an unknown and it seems so unlikely he could be traded.

I don't think anyone else could give us any big regrets, outside maybe lucking into a huge play in a big spot, like Gadz giving a two-shot foul with 0.3 seconds left when we need a 3-pointer to send us to the Finals or something.

What do you think? I think I have an idea about that but we'll see.

Redd... But we would trade him to a team in the west so we would only see him twice a year. Plus we woulnt have to worry if we ever made it to the finals down the road. Becasue he would shoot away his teams chances in the playoffs trying to be the hero!

I didnt vote but the answer is Bogut. Big guys take longer to develop.

i would trade ANYONE & any combination of Bulls players to get Bogut. Of course, that will not happen - but he's a future franchise player

I voted Yi because he's showing more as a rookie than Bogut did......

I'd put Bogut second, but would be glad to make a deal with Bulls6.

Deng may be the better player - but the Bulls need a solid player at Center, which they dont have. Bulls can replace Deng easier than they can get a decent Center

Totally agree. I know Bulls will not get him - even for their best player

I guess we could debate what's more valuable - a clumsy 7-footer with less basketball skills than I have, or an athletic 6'9" guy who can shoot, pass, defend, etc.

You are not just moderator but also respected poster from what I heard. If you think that is it posible that other Bulls fans think that as well? I am Bogut fan but your GM didn't want to trade Deng for Garnet. I don't see any way he trade him for Bogut.

If we traded Bogut for Deng, we would have a huge hole in the middle....you can't just slide Jake Voskul in there and not see a massive drop-off.

So, I'd take this one further and say Ben Wallace/Deng for Bogut/Simmons......or Bogut/Gadz.

Big Ben has lost it, but he can fill the middle better than anything we'd have left.....

Our problem then is Deng's extension...we don't have the room under the luxury tax to figure this out.

Bogut for Deng would be perfect: its the Kwame Brown for Caron Butler type deal I've been hoping we can find.

It's either Yi or Bogut. Young big guys who haven't fully developed yet.

Bulls wouldn't trade Deng for Kobe or KG, but the amazing Andrew Bogut gets him. I love it. Bulls get the #1 pick with unlimited potential (who can't shoot, dribble, shoot free throws, has no post moves, etc), and Bucks get an actual basketball player who can put up numbers no matter which childhood coaches are in town.

Great point....put me down.

We can always pursue a Brendan Haywood or Pryzzbilla if they fall out of favor in their town.
