Good signing if true. I know there will be a ton of people who will start whining now, but this is about what Bogut's value is if you look at the center market and past and projected production for Bogut, along with age. I said $10-12M a year is what he should get, and if this is correct that will be accurate.

Also, don't forget the major perk of the new contract - next time Mo tells him he's still on a rookie contract so he has to sit down and keep quiet, Bogut can reply with a simple "If you haven't signed a deal giving you 8 figures per year then pipe down, shorty".

I think that we are very fortunate to get a long term deal done before Bogut could push his market value through the roof this upcoming season.

Verbal agreement means that they are looking to get another contract done before Bogut signs. I expect another signing quickly.

Yep. That is what I was arguing before. He was worth $10-11M without question as is. So you give him $12M per year now, but then face zero risk on the Bucks part of him far surpassing that value with a great season. I already posted the per year contracts of Kaman, Ilgauskas, Miller, Dalembert, Chandler, and other centers that Bogut is equal to or better than currently. This is a very good deal for Milwaukee if Bogut improves again next season, and my money is on him doing so.

I think that if he gets to the point where he is putting up 20/10/4(assists)/1.2(blocks), then his market value hops to the point where some teams would decide he is worth a max contract.

Dags: Bogut should've just shat on him. Pinned him down, and layed some cable on his hairy chest so it would get all stuck. No huge salary can ever erase that type of memory.

I heard that the delay is because Hammond wants to watch Bogut practice free throws for an hour first as proof that he understands the concept.

Boguts deal has no bearing on the cap for this upcoming season (GAD, correct me if I'm wrong). His new contract will come into effect for the 2009-10 season. Meaning that there is no need to get another contract done before he signs, his extension is irrelevant. I'd guess the verbal agreement simply means that they've agreed on the price and now they just need to put the paperwork together. Nothing more, nothing less.

He's really got a 6-year/$68 million dollar deal when you add in his salary for this upcoming season.

Yep I should have specified that I meant it was sweet by comparison. Your right Emeka was a fool for turning that down, the guy regressed again and is about to turn 26, he'll be lucky to get 10m per.

I think this is a good deal on both sides. Even if Bogut never gets better than last year he is an above average center and if it does not work out here Big's always have higher trade value. His contract would be easy to get rid of in a worse case scenario, unlike guys like Bobby Simmons/Corey Maggette.

AS for Okafor, he is a young big former #2 pick, he will get 10mil per.

Just think though, TMAC left Orlando because he wanted them to take Okafor over Dwight Howard. He said something like taking a HS player was showing they were rebuilding and he wanted no part of that.

TMAC and Dwight in the East would have won a title by now.
