I think the Heat at least would have gone all out, and we would have been awfully screwed either from losing him or having to max him out. Glad we do not need to deal with that drama!

Agreed. Hoping this thread will have attached asap that this was posted 2 years ago. Makes it sound like we are questioning if he is worth it.
europa wrote:I'm glad this got down now. That was my hope. It made sense to get Bogut locked up now and be done with it rather than open the door for any possibility down the road. He's a player whose game showed significant improvement in the last 50 games of the season, he's the only returning key player who's an impact player on both ends of the court and there's every reason to believe his game will continue to improve going forward.

He was 9th in blocked shots last year and he's been in the top 3 in charges taken since coming to the NBA. His man D took a huge step up last season to the point that you could call him a very solid man defender against both centers and most PFs. He finished 12th in rebounds per game.
He's a good athlete for his position, has good hands, and he's a smart player, so he can get himself open for easy dunks or layups (too bad we have so many bad passers on our team). He's a very good passer. His post game is developing, with his favorite move being the left handed baby hook. He's starting to develop some counter moves off of that as well. He struggled last year when teams started to double him, but that was completely new to him on the NBA level. He has no jump shot.
He's still only 23. Post All-Star last year the ball started to actually go to him in the post much more often and he ended up averaging 16-12-3 with 1.7 blocks after the break.
Sigra wrote:60 M is good deal. Can't wait to see what he has to do to get that bonuses. I agree with fam that I hope it is FT%, rebounds and team wins. I would also add blocked shots.
Sigra wrote:Bogut at C >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Okafor at C
Bogut is better offansive player:
-more moves (Okafor has only dunks while Bogut has hook shots as well)
-can use both hands (Okafor has only right hand)
-great passer and see his teamates (Okafor black hole and no passing ability)
-has to be doubleteamed (nobody doubleteam Okafor)
-can create his own shoot (Okafor score when somebody penetrate and pass to him)
-can put ball down and dribble around his defender (Okafor has no ball control in dribling)
both are bad free throw shoters and with bad jumper too
Bogut is also better defender (talking about C position only):
-Bigger with size of real C and therefore good man defender against most Cs including Howard (Okafor big defansive liabilty against other Cs - same as Amare)
-Draw charges together with blocking shots (Okafor only block shots)
Bogut is also younger with better health

Andrew Bogut is the type of player who can be a monster on a good team.
John Hammond is going to make the Bucks a good team.
Bogut will be worth the money.
Just watch and see.
