MCotR said it was 60 mil + bonuses. Could it be that 60 mil is the basis and Bogut has to reach certain targets to get to 73 mil?

Yeah I know MJS gets numbers wrong all the time. I hope this is another situation as such.

If not, as much as I like Bogut....I will be pissed. If we were going to pay him that much I hope we would have the sense to just wait until after next year's QA to see if he progressed or not as well as save money/cap space.

I don't think the CBA allows those kinds of provisions in NBA contracts, Whiteman.

This may be a "We have no one else better and we should appease the public" signing. This is just wow.

Absolutely awful. If he was holding out for this much money we had nothing to lose waiting one more year and making him prove that he was worth it. If he doesn't become a 20/10 guy in the next season or two this is going to be another Redd type contract for us. Good player but horrendously overpaid. I thought Hammond was smarter than this.

I have a new philosophy when it comes to buying tickets to see the Bucks...

Every time that Andrew Bogut has three games in a row that are 14.5 million per year worthy, I will buy three games worth of tickets...

I suspect that I may not see a Bucks game in person next season.

I know Camby's salary depends on the number of games he plays. It's mentioned at shamsports, but I don't know the exact details. Exactly what kind of targets are allowed (number of games played, ppg or rpg etc) I don't know. We'll have to wait for one of our resident cba experts to help here.

You have got to ge kidding me. 72 million for a guy who only started resembling an above average NBA center in the January of the year that his contract came up.

60 vs. 72 million is like the difference in Bogut as a no. 1 overall pick and Bogut as a mid-lottery pick.

60 mil./mid-lottery he has great value. 72mil/no. 1 overall he's massively overpaid/overrated. I'll give him and everyone else on the team a clean slate come Nov. but I would be shocked if he lives up to that contract.

This makes Hammond 1 for 3 in my book.

Just got an email from WSSP. They are reporting 5YR/$60M

Is it possible there is an option for year 6, making it a possible $72M deal?

1250 WSSP, Milwaukee's Sports Leader has learned that the Bucks have reached a verbal agreement with Center Andrew Bogut on a new 5-year $60 million deal. Stay tuned to 1250 WSSP for further updates on this story.

Yeah, I completely take it back. I looked it up on Larry Coon's FAQ, and all sorts of incentives are allowed. Not sure why we don't hear more about them.

I'm thinking Gery Woelfel believes the contract to be 5 years and 60 million and those are the figures he gave to WSSP. Gardner obviously has a different story.

I think Gery Woelfel read REALGM this morning

:D

Anyone know if it's possible to be a six year deal with an option for the sixth year?

That could make sense why MJS has a $72M figure.

Remember this is the same paper that reported we lost Zaza Pachulia because the Hawks signed him to a 4YR/$1M deal......

Gardner got them from Bogut's agent, so if there are incentives involved he'd likely provide maximum possible figures, not the base salary. Gotta look like you're doing your job as an agent.

I really hope that's the case. The JS also got Bogut's 08/09 salary wrong ($6.9 million vs. actual $6.3 million). It'd also be nice if these figures were in Australian dollars...but I doubt it.

Perhaps the contract is actually ~66 million and Gardner/Bogut's agent added the 6.3 mil to the value. I really hope the JS is just wrong again with the numbers... hopefully Woelful has his information 100% correct!

I'll take Woelfel's word over the MJS anyday.

5/60 with incentives if he makes the all-star team, conference finals, finals, etc.

It's likely 60M base, full incentives 72.5M, which would make up for the difference in reports. If he did get 72.5M that means he likely had a great season and the Bucks did as well.

I thought of that too, but US $ 60 mil is only AUS $ 62.67 mil, so that's not it. ($6.3 us = $6.5 aus)

yeah, either that or the extra is just a 6th year option

He can't sign for more than five years and there's not supposed to be any options/ETOs in this deal.
