It would be pretty harsh for Bogut to call trading Redd 'a gift' regardless of how he feels about him. I can't imagine that is what he is referring to. Although it would definately be 'unexpected'.

I definitely agree that it'd be pretty rough to call that a gift, especially before the guy is actually traded. I should have quoted kebzach, as I was trying to think of other western conference PFs who are probably available.

something has to be going down or you wouldn't bring in a bench type guy who the coach doesn't seem excited to have on the team.

Bogut is a dumb POS if he thought anyone would be excited about this move, if this is what he was referring to.

Jones makes us worse if he sees the floor.

I just don't see it involving the Cavs, but that's just me. They're 25-4 and have very little gaps in their overall play. I don't see how they give up 3 players (including their future in Hickson) for a guy who can do what Wally does, only a little better.

Ignoring the forest (and forest related activities) for a moment, keep in mind that this is the guy who put down on his college media information sheet that he had both a pet kangaroo and a pet crocodile at home (and it did actually end up as fact on his college profile!) so there is a fair chance he would allude to something massive to mess with our heads even if it was only that Senator Kohl was going to start wearing a leopard print cravat. ;)v

So is Lue going back to LA? Can flintstone be traded to Miami yet?

It was tongue in cheek buddy, relax. Did Santa put coal in your stocking or something?

I just don't see the point of mentioning a 14th man returning to the team as something to be "excited" about, unless a trade was already in place for a guy that would actually see the floor for the Bucks and help them.

Yeah, I realize that Bogut might have just been messing with everyone since he knows how nuts this board is, but if he realistically expected the fans to be "excited" about DJ joining the team, and that DJ would "help the team", I think he needs a reality check.

+1. We need outside shooting bad.

I think the problem though is that while he's a good 3 point shooter, he kills you on defense and he has zero playmaking ability. Making 3's is nice, but when you do everything else poorly, hard to see the overall value. He's a very, very, very specific situational player at this point.

I am hoping Bogut's blog is referencing Jones' expiring for a backup big that can help us, maybe a guy with 2 years left on his contract. We have zero use for Jones IMO, even Lue is better.

My biggest memory of Damon Jones was the fact that he was utterly incapable of bringing the ball up the court against the press in the playoffs against Detroit. The Pistons were pick-pocketing him and making layups.

If Jones can be traded without being activated or whatever first, then they're probably adding him at the bottom of the roster and trading another guard. For a 4.

Wonder why no one has floated Sessions as the guy to go?

Didn't Hammond say they got the most calls about him? Playing-wise, I think his time and productivity have been slipping lately. I'm guessing Skiles wouldn't mind not having him around. Still has value. Trade him for a power forward who's better than just marginal.

Then Bogut's "gift" prediction makes sense.

ETA: I suppose Redd is a possibility, but if so, Bogut's blog tip really understates the significance. That would be major news.

Somebody probably has an offer on the table and wants to see Damon in a few games before they pull the trigger.

Funny threads. I can see I've been missing interesting times. :D

I'm going to predict a guard is going out and someone is coming in. Or maybe a guard+big combination for a decent PF. Anyway, I hope we're not signing Diogu. Joe Smith or Bass I'd like. Wilcox too. Collison... meh.

Damon Jones used to have the fame of a good locker room presence, but he lost it in Cleveland, where he was constantly pouting and discussing with Mike Brown. I understand why isn't Skiles excited. I hope we can find a way of shipping him out ASAP if he's reporting to make up for someone who's leaving.

Btw, I hope everybody had a Merry Christmas or other assorted Happy Holidays.

Honestly, I'm not sure what all this means but I find it difficult to believe that all of a sudden Hammond/Skiles decides that they would like to see DJ in a bucks uni and see if he can produce for the team. There must be something more to this than that. This is just all preliminary to something happening either with DJ or with another player on the roster.

Jones hit some huge shots for Cleveland in the playoffs. He has a high assist to turnover ratio so those that are insulting his ball handling skills should factor that in as well. He is better than Lue period. When Jones was playing with Ford and splitting minutes he was very solid. If he gets traded...fine...it wont break my heart but IMO he should have been with the team from the start of the season...would have been the perfect guy to bring in when we needed a three or when our PG's were stinking it up.

because ramon is essentially still a rookie; only 40-something games to his name. he's a rook loaded with all-star potential, we all can see that. trading him at this point unless you were in "win championship now" mode, would be a disasterous move for a gm to make. do you think if the mavs knew what devin harris was capable of they would have shifted him?
