I just read about this on Hoopsworld. Was this the board that originated the rumour? Ahaha, great. Even greater if it was true.

Well not dead, but morphing into the deal the Bucks and Rockets are destined to make:

Redd $15.78m + Gadzuric $6.25m

for

McGrady $20.37m

I'm excited to watch the defensive prowess of Tracy McGrady... Over/Under in games before this board would turn on McGrady? Probably about 7. That's a bad deal for us. The previous deal was a good one for us, but this one certainly is not.

It's dead. Let it go.

T-Mac isn't half the player he once was, but he is still a player, and would deliver us from the 3rd year of Redd/Gadz.

you're right about mcgrady. what you ignore though, is that despite his flaws, he's still better than redd

i compare Landry to the bruiser PF's of the league like Millsap and Powe. he goes for every board and never takes a play off. I don't know if i would want Charlie V. the last player we need is a guy with talent who doesn't use it. we already have one of those (T-Mac).

don't know if anyone saw Bogut's post last night on his blog regarding the "present" being a trade:

I think the Suns are really thinking of moving Amare Stoudemire. Jefferson, Villanueva and Ridnour are names I'd believe they'd be interested in.

Charlie Villanueva
Richard Jefferson

Amare Stoudemire

Works in trade checker. Although I don't think they would do it. We would have to add a pick I imagine.

Lineups:

Ridnour, Sessions, Lue
Redd, Bell
LRMAM, Alexander
Stoudemire, Allen
Bogut, Gadz, Elson

Suns:

Nash
Richardson, Barbosa
Jefferson, Hill
Villanueva, Amundson, Barnes (a SF but I think they would have to play him as backup pf)
O'neal, Lopez

Phoenix would have horrible front court defense with this lineup, but they get a hometown player.
I would maybe try to take this deal one step further and give them Alexander, and Damon Jones for Barbosa and Tucker (who I think was just sent down to Dleague). They don't need Barbosa's contract if they are getting Jefferson, and they save some money that way.

We then run:

Ridnour, Sessions, Lue
Redd, Barbosa
LRMAM, Bell, Tucker
Stoudemire, Allen
Bogut, Gadz, Elson

Again, I doubt Phoenix does this one either, but that team would compete with as a 4 in the east with potential to go very far in the playoffs.

Toronto trades: Andrea Bargnani, Jason Kapono, Joey Graham, Hassan Adams, 1st
Toronto receives: Michael Redd, Goran Dragic

Why? They add a legit wing to add to their roster to make a push in the playoffs and make Bosh happy. They also get a young Euro point, they love those right?

Phoenix trades: Leandro Barbosa, Goran Dragic
Phoenix receives: Jason Kapono, Charlie Bell

Why? They receive a three point threats to stop doubles on Amare/Shaq as well as a veteran 1-2 with solid D and shooting.

Milwaukee trades: Michael Redd, Charlie Villanueva, Tyronn Lue, Charlie Bell
Milwaukee receives: Leandro Barbosa, Andrea Bargnani, Joey Graham, Brian Cook, Keith Bogans, 1st (via Toronto), 1st (via Orlando)

Why? They start rebuilding with smaller contracts and picks.

Orlando trades: Brian Cook, Keith Bogans, 1st
Orlando receives: Charlie Villanueva, Tyronn Lue, Hassan Adams

Why? They get more firepower off the bench (or even starting) for the playoffs without giving up any rotation player and a veteran point.

I don't think Phoenix does that deal at all. Kapono is considered a bad contract by raptors fans (I think he has a Gadz size deal, and 2 years left after this one), and Dragic is supposed to be their backup pg and maybe start after Nash retires.

I think Phoenix would like to burn some salary if they can (unless they get back a great starter). Barbosa would be a decent player to trade in that respect, but I don't think they would do it for Kapono.

I question the original source for this in the first place as it never made sense from Darryl Morey's perspective and the Rockets Management perspective.

Since few of the posters here follow the Rockets, the bottom line is Darryl Morey and the Rockets Management have a high opinion of Landry and of Landry's potential. That's why they matched all offers for Landry during the summer and spent the entire summer negotiating with Landry to get him back. Landry continues to come off the bench for the Rockets and has been producing for the Rockets this season every time he comes off the bench.

It never made any sense for Daryl Morey to waste all the effort and time during the summer to keep an already producing PF in Landry who is young and has potential, and throw him away just like that in a desperate move for a backup center in Mihms and for CV, especially since CV is widely known in the NBA for his poor work effort and his poor defense.

I noticed the original posting of this rumor never discussed how Rockets management percieved the value of Landry and that's why this rumor was probably bogus to begin with.
