The Wizards just might. Don't underestimate the pressure Grunfeld's going to feel to "win now" given the money he's spent on Arenas, Butler and Jamison. Plus, an Arenas/Redd backcourt wouldn't lack for offensive punch, that's for sure.

If I'm Hammond, I'm chatting Ernie up tonight and seeing if he's interested in Redd for Thomas/James/5.

They don't need any more offense, and that is all Redd brings. When has Washington hurt for points? Never. They are going to take on $33M of Redd instead of taking a player that will unquestionably have more upside?

Redd and RJ have very little value around the league. They are easily replaceable players that make big money.

I tried it on trade checker, and Redd for James and Thomas works. Throw in the fifth pick and that seems like a great deal. We take Hill with the fifth pick to replace Charlie and Derozan with the tenth (he will drop that far) If Harden is around at the fifth pick, though, we should take him and take Earl Clark with the tenth pick.

What you believe they need and what Grunfeld might be looking for may not be the same thing.

I can't think of a GM that would rationally take $33M of Redd coming off knee injury over Harden or DeRozan (both players that could be better all around players than Redd easily) at cheap for five years.

People are going to be disappointed if they are expecting anything great in return for Redd/RJ. Overpaid wings nearing 30, not that much value.

I think Grunfeld will be looking to deal the 5th pick and it would not surprise me if Redd was among the players we hear as possible trade options for the Wizards.

Doubt it. We were talking about all these sort of deals last year as well before the draft. The interest in Redd was minimal. Now he's coming off knee injury.

I'd be pretty excited if we could do Redd/10th for Thomas/James/5th. We save over three million next year, get Derozan or whomever at 5, can re-sign Sessions, and we're not totally screwed in 2010.

I'm still not sure the Wiz do it--do guys ever get traded while they're rehabbing torn ACLs?--but they're capped out for the next two years anyway.

Pairing Redd with a three other guys who require a ton of shots equals explosion.

You thought Mo and Redd didn't work. Wait till you see Arenas and Redd.

If the Wiz wanted to make a play for an overpriced vet, Kirilenko would be a MUCH better option for them. Or Marion. Or about anyone else in the NBA.

If the Wizards trade the 5th pick for anything I think it'll be for a big man, not another guard.

Honestly i see us trading the pick along with ridnour or alexander in a salary dump(see portland and their non gar contracts) in an effort to resign both cv and ramon. whether that works or not who knows. But if we keep 10 i see Dejuan Blair, as he actually should be a decent fit next to Bogut, and as for our second round pick, I'm sry but i am just a huge Jereal Mcneal fan so him in a heartbeat

This draft class is incredibly hard to predict after Griffin. Picks 2-14 seem to be completely up in the air. It looks like Thabeet, Rubio, and DeRozan will be taken towards the top, but it's all still guesswork at this point. With so many unknowns in what looks to be a weak draft class, it's foolish to try and pick for need or make a "safe pick." The Bucks cannot afford to pass on a home run potential guy (i.e Holiday, DeRozan, or Jennings) seeking a "safe pick."

ray allen got trade for the 5th pick along with delonte west and contracts...so i wouldnt say that no gm owuld make a trade like this. I really like the idea of that trade with washington. If we could swing that, then turn and around and package JA, 5, 10 for Rubio and i am a happy camper

right now, i would have to say that with the tenth pick, we have to take tyreke evans if hes available. hes a good player who had a monster tourney. otherwise, we have to choose from all the pgs or see if jordan hill drops

Brandon Jennings. He seems to have the most potential to be a home-run pick at 10. Can't say I'm really up on the prospects but I wanna get a guy who actually could be better than Bogut.

Will Consider: DeJuan Blair, Ty Lawson, Jonny Flynn

With Charlie Villanueva about to hit free agency, the Bucks may opt to go for a cheaper option who is a better fit for Scott Skiles’ anyway. DeJuan Blair would instantly make the Bucks a much tougher team

I like it too and I think it's viable for both teams. The last time Grunfeld had the fifth pick he traded it (Devin Harris) for a veteran. His comments last night about how the fifth pick might not see much playing time on the Wizards next season struck me as a possible indication he's seriously considering trading it.
