Why would the Kings want to trade D.Brown?

He's a great player, but the rumors at the deadline got me wondering, why did they want to trade him?

the usual reasons:
The team got stagnant and he was the leader and a forward on a team that wasn't scoring
he had trade value as a good player and a good character guy
