KIngs in 1st place!

It's been forever and a day since we could say that. The win over the Oilers was pretty nice. Tangible intangibles. The old dog defenseman who never shows up on a score sheet seals the deal at the end and the goalie who would be a legit NHL starter for a team who hasn't had one in forever rests his case.

Quick's legit. He has a knack for the big play and stays pretty steady. He's been player of the week multiple times, he's a shootout stud, and even if he doesn't rank in the top ten for save % or GAA he has a feel for the game that winners have that goes beyond stats but shows up in the W column. We're not playing the kind of D in front of him that we did last year or he'd be a league star.

So who knows how long we stay in first, but it's safe to say we won't likely miss the playoffs. It's fun to watch this team. I'm a happy fan.

Dear Sean... glad you got a goal. You deserved it after taking all of these:

I hate losing to the Snarks. We got beat by great goaltending tonight, though. Props to Evgeny.

We've now won 5 of the last six after grinding down the Maple Leafs. I was starting to worry that our collapse was just later this year after the hot start. Now I've got the band back in wagon on the playoff trail.

6 game win streak for the first time since 02', in 5th but just out of 3rd. Playing with character in a late rally vs the Devils? I love this team. Hope Deano gets us a stud on the buyers market to bump us into a new layer of quality.

Kings are on Fiiiiiiiire!

We missed out on Igor, but we're solid, we're a team, and who knows who might shake loose in return for someone like Bernier, who I'm high on, but why mess with Quick's awesomeness?

Greenie is playing lock down D like I've been waiting for finally and we are headed into the olympics with a lot of Mo. I like it, now no one get hurt.

the Kings lose the first game back from the break 4-2 vs the Canadians. Modin put one away in his King debut, which brings me to random thoughts:

I like the trades, we get savvy guys who don't need to resurrect anything and are low risk if they end up locker room guys and not performers. That being said I think the King youth will spark a little performance boost for the old dogs.

Also, let's talk about Team USA and one of their biggest flaws: Jack MF Johnson

Jack just plain makes dumb decision about when and where to try to lay the hurt down on people. He does it repeatedly in the offensive zone without regard for his partners position and the possible breakaway opp the other team gets.

How much value does this guy have? Is there much learning curve left? I know injuries must have stunted his growth, but I'm growing tired of him. If he has value I say bring in Tuebert and move JJ this offseason. What if Jack has a great playoffs? Good he'll bring more back in a trade. Sorry Jack, I don't like your game.

Wow 6-0 Kings vs the jackets and outshoot them 35-11.

The Simmonds, Handzus, Modin line is very cool to me- All three guys are hard to ride off the puck and can just grind on you or pop you. As I was hoping Modin has been re-energized with the youngsters and now is really looking like a good big bodied addition by Dean-o.

Yeah the west is so competitive right now anybody could finish 2-out of the playoffs it's cool but scary. Neither team was given much credit before the season, so it's great for both.

Nice to see ya DDS

Nice to see you as well Danny Darko. I'm just thrilled to see Yotes in the playoffs for the first time since 02 or 03 season. And I know you must be thrilled too to see Kings make the playoffs. Both our teams lately haven't been that great but it all changed this season and hopefully it continues onto the next and so on.

Good luck the rest of the way, and we'll talk more in the playoffs. ;)

Drewwwwww Homie is just money. I love that kid. He called his shot to come play for the Kings and he does things like smoke OT with a wicked slap shot. How good can he be?

I don't expect any 8 goal games from here on out unless you guys have truly mailed it in.
