I love the Lang addition. I'd rather him here since training camp then Sundin showing up in Febuary. Takes a lot of pressure of Chips since he will not be our starting center but most likely will get much time in Montreal.

Patrice is also a good signing as long as he doesn't start. He played solid in the playoffs and he's a good 7th defensemen incase of injuries.

I agree with Universe on the Brisebois part. He has such a bad rap, and I truly believe he doesn't deserve it. He makes costly mistakes sometimes, but that's just his style of play. I think that as a 6/7 d-man, he is a great guy to have.

As for the Lang addition, I like it for the price we paid. We basically traded Huet for Lang, which is very little to pay considering Huet was going to be a free agent and wasn't going to be re-signed by the Habs anyways. Lang has still got a bit left in him, and is a very good third line center for us. It will be another interesting year to see how things shape up :)

Go Habs Go! and Universe, you never did tell me :P Any good spots to watch a Habs game around here or no?

Good to see Lang joining the team, if confirmed he wants to play here and had a successfull season with kovalev back in 2001...
Sundin never showed interest so plan b here we go! I expect one last big blockbuster trade...:)

Im happy with the Brisebois move....he doesnt hurt the cap and he<s a veteran that helped us in the bruins series...

Cant wait to start the season....Hd cable and a 46 inch tv baby!!!
I never experienced hd before so if anybody did let me know the difference!

Hold on tight brother, it's sick.

Once you go hi-def, everything else sucks. Congrats on the upgrade. Sound is sharper, picture is insane, you can see stitches on sweaters. Crazy.

Any bar when they play the Leafs. I've never seen an actual Canadiens 'place' around here. I ussually just go to a friends where all the fans head over there. If you find anything too, let me know haha.

A nice article on our future team.

With all the young guys we have, we're set now and years ahead. I really hope Gainey can pull off a blockbuster soon - with Gaborik not getting the contract he wants, we may be able to pull him away with a package of young guys and picks like the Pens gave for Hossa. Here's hoping!

zomg, so it looks like there STILL is a chance for Sundin to come to Montreal for less money. Big time agent came out and said the Habs are still listening if Mats wants to come on board.

If Gainey pulls this off, he's a ****ing master.

If you look at the past posts, I mentioned this as being a possibility ;)

I'll be so happy. I was super bummed out when I saw Selanne is most likely returning to Anaheim, so seeing this new update is getting me super excited again.

I got preseason tickets too against the Bruins. :) Still trying to find tickets for opening night.

I’m confused, where did you guys here this information on Sundin still having a chance on joining the team? Last week I heard Bob confirmed he closed the book on that chapter.
And if we are to sign him, what the hell are we going To do with all these players...
Lapierre,Chipchura,begin,Tom k, and ect...
We have way 2 many players on the roster.

Ps: Laraque and Koivu are both injured(minor injuries)
Latendresse Finished in the first 5 fastest player in the whole f**** training camp! That’s just sick!
Lang,Latendresse and Kovalev will be on the same line-up tomorrow night for the first pre-season game! I can imagine the second line up will be Koivu,Tanguay and Higgins followed with Kostityn’s brothers and Plekanec and The 4th line would probably look like Lapierre,Laraque and Begin/Tom

The best team I have seen in a long time...

If we land Sundin, I think Gainey would package some young talent to either go after a big time defenseman or wait until the trade deadline to make the move for a disgruntled star who wants a new contract ala Gaborik.

With Sundin, we'd look something like this:

Tanguay/Sundin/Kovalev
Higgins/Koivu/Lang
Kostitsyn/Pleks/Kostitsyn
Koustopolous/Begin/Laraque

No room for Lapierre, Cement Feet or Chipchura - which is just scary. I'd package Latendresse with a few other young guys for a defenseman though. Zubov and Schneider will probably be available, with a Jay Bouwmeester being an outside chance depending on how bad he wants out of Florida.

lol the kid is good... but I don't know if we'll see him make the squad right away. I want him to, but it's prob not going to happen, which in the long run may be the best option all around.

He'll probably come up a few times like Chips.

Anyone else see Price's save on Rafalski the other night? Absolutely inSANE.

Closed out the pre-season with a loss to the Wild. They looked out of sync for the most part and Price was shaky at best. Anyways, hopefully everyone forgets about tonight and we pick-up where we left off last year! At the top of the Eastern Conference! :) Dunno about you guys, but I think it's time we locked this offseason thread up. If you have any last words, put em in here by Tuesday! After that it's locked up and the first official game thread of the season is going up! Sh00n, dunno if you wanted to do it or not with your snazzy gfx. Lemme know.

Lets get this season started!!!
