Habs off-season - 2010

After a long and albeit unexpected playoff run (by many, but not all) by the 8th seeded Habs, the off-season has arrived after falling in the Conference finals to the Philly freakin' Flyers... With the 2009-2010 season over, we now look to the 2010 off-season awaiting key decisions that are to be made. Will it be as busy as last seasons free agent frenzy? I don't believe so, however it will be semi-busy in my personal opinion.

Anyways, only time will tell. Have anything 2010 off-season related? Well this is the place to post it. Go Habs Go, and bring on the 2010-2011 season!

Habs lose Guy Boucher to the Tampa Bay Lightning...

So basically the Lightning got Yzerman, AND Boucher. The two guys I really wanted for GM and coach on the Habs. Ughhhhhh... Tampa is going to become a pretty sick team under those two together.

I want to see some new blood in this team...Gautier has balls to make a bold trade with Montreal's top star, he should shake up the entire roster

Tomas Plekanec signed to a multi-year deal estimated at about 5 mill/year (just announced) - http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=325383

Mathieu Darche signed to a 1 year, $500,000 deal. Good depth move, imo - http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/story/?id=3 ... -canadiens

Instead of Darche he should be working on Price and Lapierre.

While I agree, I believe Darche was a pretty easy case, didn't take much to do.

Montreal moves up in the draft to 22. They get the big fella, Jarred Tinordi.

Yep! While we had to give up a 1st and 2nd for 5 slots difference in the 1st, and a 4th... I still have to say I am very pleased by the pick. Kid's going to be a scary presence for the Habs in a few years!

Pyatt and Pouliot re-signed each to one year deals. 700k for Pyatt, 1.35 for Pouliot.

WOW. Sergei Kostitsyn for Dan Ellis and Dustin Boyd. Sexy, sexy deal by PG if we re-sign both. Ellis will be the perfect back up for Price and Boyd should've never been dealt once by Calgary, let alone twice now. I always wanted us to land this kid and I love this trade so much.

love this deal, I just hope that it doesn't mean the end of Dominic Moore with us, I like what I saw from him in the playoffs

For those of you who don't know, Walsh is an agent for Octagon hockey, and the agent that reps Halak. He tweeted about Halaks stats being way better than Price's earlier this year, and just handled the whole thing very unprofessionally. Anyways, he had this tweet yesterday, and so I took offense to it and responded!

His initial tweet:

walsha Geez, the way my Twitter is blowing up, one would think I tweeted stats on a certain Montreal goalie!!

My Responses:

@walsha No that was because it was unprofessional to "suggest" things like that when your client is the other goalie. You know what you did.

@walsha FYI I am a huge Jaro fan, but I think he should look for more "professional" representation.

Walsh apparently felt the need to mock my opinion:

walsha @RyanWarnholtz thinks Jaro Halak should have more "professional" representation. I agree, will mention it to him tomorrow morning.

My final response (just sent it off):

@walsha Let me know how that goes.

Anyways, it is Habs related, and I thought it would be nice to spam his twitter and give him a piece of our mind about his stupidity. Jaro's name has been tarnished because of that idiot, and I can't wait until Jaro realizes what a tool he really is.

I realize Jaro is not a Hab anymore, but this is still of relevance as he was bring Price right back into this again. he was right about the stats, but as a professional, you just don't do those things.

I've posted in so many different teams boards lately that I'm starting to lose count, but I just like a bunch of teams so I want to keep up to date with what they're all doing. Anyway, I agree with you. I'm really happy that we got this kid as well. He's not a great puck mover, but he has a nice shot and is going to be very good in his own zone. The fact that he's also so big and physical is great as well, considering how this team is made up mainly of smaller, more skilled players rather than big physical guys.

A lot of the young guys that we've picked up are quite physical, so I think we're getting bigger as a whole. Also, our top 6 are small, but on average we were not a small team last year. Our D was pretty darn massive with O'Byrne and Gill back there.

I agree that the team isn't completely tiny, but as you said, the top-6 forwards are all pretty small, and even the bigger guys aren't really that big compared to other teams. I'm not sure when it comes out, but I can't wait to get NHL 2011 on my PS3 where I can start my Habs franchise and make some trades to bring in some bigger guys, just to see how it effects the teams play.

Rumblings of Simon Gagne possibly headed to the Habs. We'd have to clear some capspace by moving Hammer or something, but it would be pretty awesome, so long as he doesn't get any more concussions.
