Yeah well... Eklund's an idiot so... lol. Take whatever he says with a grain of salt.

True, but it's still interesting either way. I wonder who Edmonton would give up to get Higgins if it was true. I'd only want Hemsky coming back, though.

I'm happy with getting Lang rather than waiting and letting Mats join in January. We already have a top three team and adding Lang improves that enough not to ruin chemistry but also give us some more big men.

Imagine having Lapierre - Lang - Georges on a line?

I don't see the fascination with Lang at all.

Lang has always been a fairly consistent player, so I wouldn't be opposed to picking him up. However, I would rather wait for Sundin than to sign Lang right away... I think Sundin would have a much greater impact than Lang ever would. Apparently Sundin was in Toronto for that charity hockey game, right? And then he talked to Leafs management and apparently before he was heading back to Sweden he was going to talk with Gainey.

Yep; and from what I've heard Sundin has last the team he wants to sign with know that he wants to sign with them. Now that team is trying to keep it quiet. Anyways, Shanahan to Montreal rumors are starting to heat back up again - he doesn't want to wait on the Rangers to make cap space anymore and is trying to get on board with us!

I'd rather have Lang this year because if one of our centers goes down, who do we bring up to fill the void? We already have Chips for our third line when he could easily be in the AHL.

Of course there are other options but Lang has experince and only one year left on his contract.

OT: Snayr, you moving to St. Catharines Ontario? That's where I live and I'm sure you'll like it.

Gainey said he wasn't interested in him. I would love to have him but we already are sitting Begin most likely which is caused by the overflow of wingers.

I also heard that one of the brothers is trying out center so this may work out too.

Yeah from what I am reading, S.Kots may be trying out C for a little bit. And yeah, I am in St.Caths now, been here for a week. Nice area where I'm at so I'm happy, and I'm only 5 mins from school (by car). I just drive straight down townline and I'm practically home :P I'm going to Brock.

Also, here's a link about Sundin... stumbled onto it while I was listening intently in my lecture ;)

Could be a smokescreen by Gainey, too. You never know. But if we land Sundin, we'd have to make a trade in order to free up space for Shanahan if Gainey were to bring him over. Latendresse & Halak for Horcoff? Or throw both Kostitsyns for Hemsky - who is going to be the best player in the NHL in a few years, in my opinion. Who knows if Edmonton is smart enough to know that already? :P

Serg played some center last year I believe but I cannot find the stats. Most likely not more than 5 - 10 draws at the most.

My girlfriend and almost all my friends go to Brock. I'm stuck at Niagara but going to Brock next year. Glad to get some Habs fans down in this area, haha.

It's pretty sad that there are more Habs fans from Ontario here than from Montreal itself haha. I need to do some recruiting on the Habs board.

Roy was the man. It was horrible how he left, and the organisation was a disaster at the time IIRC.

Nice to see his legacy being restored as a Hab.

His performance in the (crap what year was it, '93?) cup run was unbelievable.

The organization was being run by a bunch of idiots in when Roy blew up. I don't blame him... they were arrogant pricks to him. He changed the way goalies played in the NHL and rightly so deserves his number to be retired.

Anyways onto some breaking news! The Montreal Canadiens have acquired Robert Lang from the 'Hawks in return for a 2nd round draft pick in 2010. So essentially we traded Huet for Robert Lang.

http://canadiens.nhl.com/team/app/?serv ... eid=381855

Also the Habs re-signed Brisebois to another year.

http://canadiens.nhl.com/team/app/?serv ... eid=381856

I don't know about anyone else, but I think this essentially guarantees that we are out of the Mats Sundin sweepstakes. UNLESS he is to come back on January 1st and the Habs offer him something like 3 mill. to finish out the year. That could work! :) We'll see what unfolds!
