We also have Clark coming off redshirt. Do we need a D focused G?

I haven’t dove into prospects just asking in general since we probably can only draft players with one really good trait where we’re at.

Unless Clark has been blowing the coaches away with a newfound ability to score the ball, I wouldn't let him dictate who we draft at all.

I don't think I was ever out on him....or was I?

You had Kolek over him, which is obviously blasphemy. But now that you've seen the light all is good.

if he is available, would you invest one of our pick on Bronny James?

-draft combines are good
-if I remember well he should be an high IQ player with good defense ability

Hell no. He's a 6'1" "shooting guard" with a mediocre shot and below average handles. The kid wasn't even a starter on a below average college team. It is very likely the only reason he got invited to the combine is because his dad is LeFlop. The Wolves 2nd rounder from last year - Jaylen Clark - has more upside.

Kyshawn George, currently mocked one pick ahead of our pick on Tankathon, has Connelly "year early" pick written all over him.

Trade up using both picks to snag Tristan da Silva, Terrance Shannon or Kyshawn George. That's my wish list

The NBA combine has come and gone and I didn't even know it was happening.

Post combine Mock Draft.
https://collegesportswire.usatoday.com/lists/2024-nba-mock-draft-lottery-combine-college-basketball/

27
Minnesota Timberwolves - Tyler Kolek, PG, Marquette

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota is in the midst of an NBA championship run, and the roster looks incredibly deep at the moment.

But Mike Conley is not getting any younger, and adding a veteran point guard who can contribute from Day 1 is a winning formula.

They have Kyshawn George a guy mentioned as a trade up target for the Wolves going at 29.
29
Utah Jazz - Kyshawn George, SG, Miami

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Utah adding Castle and George would give this team substantial length on the perimeter, and George’s high-level outside shooting offsets the lack of shooting Castle provides right now.

It might be a nightmare to have two guards named K. George on the same team, but the fit here makes a lot of sense.
37. Minnesota Timberwolves – Ulrich Chomche, PF, NBA Academy Africa

NBA.com did a list of 8 combine standouts. Jamal Shead was one of them.

https://www.nba.com/news/8-standout-prospects-2024-draft-combine

Here's a ranking from 1 to 76 of all the players at the combine from the Phoenix Suns perspective.

Players heights/weights/wingspans and hallelujah all without shoes. Also with a click or two you can find every other test from the combine. Strength, agility, vertical leap etc.

He's an excellent passer, great finisher around the rim and to this point a good shooter. But he's not athletic, with his finishing relying on angles and getting free out of ball screens, nor do I think he has a good wingspan. I could see him in a JMac role but if that's the case, what's the point of drafting him for us?

He is listed at 6' 3", he isn't tiny.

He is 2 inches taller than JMac, he is also a much better shooter than JMac.

JMac was never an 80% FT Shooter in college [He was 79%], Kolek is a 90% this year and 80% the past 2 seasons.

Kylan Boswell is a PG Prospect who may be gone by the 20s but is promising, as is Iowa State's Tamin Lipsey.

He doesn't look 6-3 when I've watched him play. Given that players usually measure shorter at the Combine I wouldn't be surprised if he's closer to 6-2 or even 6-1 which, while taller than JMac, is still tiny comparative to the rest of the league. I'd also point out that he doesn't have the footspeed JMac has, although the point wasn't to compare the two anyway. I only said that I thought he could play a similar role.

But as I also said...I'm horrible at picking small guards. I was big on Kennedy Chandler and Tyty Washington after all.

Worth noting now that the Combine happened.....Kolek measured 6'1.25" barefoot....by comparison, in 2007 our Mike Conley measured 5'11" barefoot.

Jamal Shead came in at 6'0.25"

I wouldn't treat any mock as a true indicator of the end result this year. There's a tier of guys from about 20 through to around 50 that are all roughly the same. The actual order will depend far more on individual boards from the teams themselves, more so than in previous years.
