Excellent gamble by Rosas on a player with very nice upside at very little long term cost.

Good deal. Removes the 45-day with the big club restriction. Think of it as a red shirt year. Go out and blossom, big fella.

Does the 4 year deal simply negate the two year two way he previously signed? First year guaranteed. Does this make it likely he is with the big club this year?

I believe this deal will supersede his previous two-way deal and take a roster spot. However, that doesn’t mean he still won’t spend a lot of time in Iowa.

A big man who isnt made out of glass. This should be a happy signing longterm.

If he requires a roster spot and Graham is guaranteed requiring a roster spot does this relegate Nowell to the G League with no roster spot?

I’m certainly no expert - and will graciously defer those that are more knowledgeable (not a high bar) - but Nowell would likely be signed to a deal that costs a roster spot. Any player assigned to Iowa will just be listed as inactive.

Nice thing about the 4 year deal is that when the one year deals are done we still have a warm body to put on the court.

I think that if Graham and Reid are on the roster that makes 15. Here is my list in descending order or importance to the team.

1 KAT
2 RoCo
3 Culver
4 Teague
5 Wiggins
6 Okogie
7 Dieng
8 Vonleh
9 Napier
10 Layman
11 Bell
12 KBD
13 Wallace
14 Reid
15 Graham

Seems like Nowell is odd man looking in.

I had a feeling something like this might happen. Great to see!

I believe teams can have up to 20 players on the roster - including two-way players - as long as they’re down to 15 (not counting two-way) before the regular season starts.

Correct. Offseason roster limit is 20.

If years 2-4 have no guarantee what is in it for Reid. The first year guarantee? Is that enough for him to take what seems to be a minimum 4 year contract? Is Nowell still unsigned? It seems that Reid has risen above him in the hierarchy.

Good information, but when the regular season rolls around and those 15 contracts are guaranteed it does leave Nowell as the odd man looking in right? Maybe we find a team that wants to take Graham off our hands.

I’m in no position to speculate as to who will be on the final roster. Okay, I’ll speculate that KAT will be. Rosas has said they will keep working to improve the roster before the season. And that it could be different in October. I’m currently drinking the Kool-Aid that they are focused on changing culture and increasing competition - while adding future financial flexibility (I’m a sucker for alliteration) - all of which should impact the product we see on the floor.

Here's the structure on Reid's deal. Sounds like only the first year is guaranteed.

$898,310
$1,517,981
$1,782,621
$1,930,681

Excellent move by Rosas. I like that he moved quickly here. Naz still has some rough edges but this kind of contract will help to keep him motivated to improve.

Rosas has made a number of good small moves and one good big one (Culver), even if he hasn't made the franchise altering moves we were hoping for yet.
