Gobert might become the name in pick and pop in the NBA. Dude is massive, and has 4 talented 3 point shooters next to him in the starting lineup. Also long rebounds tend to be easier to get coming outside in as opposed to inside out.

I cannot wait to see how Gobert unlocks the way to the basket to Ant.

Both Towns and Gobert should how Green uses short roll passing. Gobert never had an athletic wing to master this skills. Towns never had an athletic PF/C to make it work. The closest thing was Vando, but he has bad hands.

Towns was the best slashing big in NBA last season, and he needs to master his slashing game. Short roll passing is part of slashing game for a big and might unlock chemistry not only Towns with Gobert, but also Gobert/Towns with MCD and Ant. Having two extremely athletic wings is a big advantage.

Another thing that I noticed watching UTA, is that our perimeter players should use their mid range / short jumpers / tear drops / floaters more. The reason is that Gobert not only rolls to the basket hard, he also locks his opponents (often C), or opponent does not want leave Gobert because of lob / putback threat.

I have a question... Usually when I think about defense it is something that reacts and adjust to offense. However, I saw one video. First defensive play, watch how Ingles top locks his opponent, denies Jaylen Brown handoff with TT

It is important to understand that handoff against Gobert might lead to semiopen 3pt shot from Brown. Because it would put Gobert and Ingles out of action. It is important that Ingles realizes this and denis handoff, and opens backdoor but the rest is up to Gobert. I remember when I watched one video about Dray Green and GSW defense it was mentioned that Green and other GSW players and coaching staff are prepared in defense. Hence, they are reading offense and often makes smart plays like Ingles did in the video above. For instance, they "pre-switch" because they know that opponent seek mismatch against Curry.

So my question is: we saw from the video above that Ingles "does protect Gobert" and BOS offense goes in right (for UTA) direction, GSW is known for these type of plays. But can you name other thing that our players can do to a) maximize Gobert impact as rim protector b) protect him from getting destroyed on perimeter. Of course things like ICE, drop, tunneling to the rim, or even "invite to try shoot over Gobert" But what else?

I saw a video where it was clearly seen how the defenses were afraid of Rudy's PnR and then squeezed towards the center leaving sensationally open shots on the sides. It will be nice to see how Finch will use these available weapons and how the opposing defenses will adapt to us!

Maturity. Professionalism.

We're only halfway through the press conference, but that's my takeaway from this presser on what Rudy will bring to the organization.

I really like the press conference...Gobert talked a lot about KAT and the team..

"I am here to take this team to the finals"

I had an heartattack while was smiling and crying at the same time.

Ok now I'm definitely stirred up!

If you can see Western Conference finals then why not NBA Finals and Larry O'Brien trophy. :D

Yeah it was the most mature I have seen hin talk before.

The general mainstream media are still flogging us like no tomorrow.

I know our aim should be a chip, but if we are to stay in the play-offs for the next 5 years then this trade is a win.

Largely agree. IF Anthony Edwards is truly a superstar, the simple fact that he is likely to see extended playoff runs for the next 3-5 years is invaluable.

Even if these go poorly, meaning we are still a good team but can't get out of the second round, make the playoffs, get bounced in the first round and maybe make one or two second-round appearances, it will suck but we will have a 30 year old KAT we can move for good assets. A veteran Gobert coming off a big contract, cap space and some assets to build around an experienced, battle-tested 15-year-old Ant coming into his prime.

The only way this trade is a true disaster is if we totally flop and are simply a bad team. Even then, we can probably salvage it to some degree by trading Rudy and or Towns in a season or two for some assets and rebuilding around Ant which would be bad because we would be selling low but we would still get something solid back.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

My Jazz heart hurts seeing Rudy in a Wolves jersey.
