This trade makes no sense to me at all. Toronto already waved the white flag for the year and Dinwiddie is better the Schroder so not sure why the Nets make this move.

Clear Dennis Schröder's salary next season (he was unhappy about losing his starting role).

I think the Nets need to dump SD for locker room reasons, and this was the best they could do. But at least the initials are similar ;)

1:03 p.m. ET: The Charlotte Hornets are finalizing a trade to send forward PJ Washington to the Dallas Mavericks for forward Grant Williams, guard Seth Curry and a first-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

This move sucks PJ Washington is a great fit for Dallas's needs.

Dallas has improved their frontline a ton, even if I think that this is an overpay.

Dallas used so much draft capital on hodgepodge of mediocre bigs in Williams and now Gafford and PJ Washington which they could have used to acquire an actual star big to pair with Luka.

The role-player arms race is pretty intense, in the Western Conference.

Should we pick up Joe Harris for nothing?

Probably not. His injuries have made him unplayable. He couldn’t get minutes for a shooting starved Pistons team that was trying to win.

To be fair, movement shooters play substantially better on stacked squads. The worse the team, the worse that a movement shooter will generally perform.

Honestly, Joe Harris might be cooked, but I think he is an interesting option.

Supposedly both were unhappy on their current team.

If we're relying on buyout players to play actual meaningful minutes for us then we're screwed.

I'll be honest, I'm disappointed. Monte Morris isn't going to resolve our issues and a lot of our competition either improved or stood pat.

Morris is a solid pickup and there will be shooting on the buyout market. McDermott would be helpful. I'm glad they still have Anderson. He has his issues, but he's a great big wing defender. Plus, I'm happy they kept both 2024 draft picks.

They now have nine players in the rotation - with Morris, NAW, Anderson and Reid off the bench. McDermott could make it 10.

It's been a solid deadline.

Schroder is 13M next year, Dinwiddie is a FA.

Its a contract dump.

(And Dinwiddie has been terrible this year, he'll help them tank a lot more than Schroder)

PJ is a good player in the handful of games where he gives a crap. But he tends to drift through a lot of games.

Towns just put up 60+ on PJ so more power to the Mavs.

All we have to do is worry about ourselves (and reducing unforced errors).

Dallas seems aimless. Gafford/PJ for a near unprotected first and their big free agent signing (Williams). But if things click, they’re dangerous.

Suns going to be tough come playoff time. I don’t like a first round matchup with them. Royce/Roddy are the type of role players they need to surround that crazy good big 3.

Royce is a big upgrade over Okogie. Not thrilled with this one...

My complaint isn't with Morris as a player, he's fine. The issue is he's not resolving as many problems as people seem to think.

If our turnover issues were solvable by playing a PG with an amazing AST:TO ratio then they'd have been fixed the minute we started playing JMAC more. But our offensive issues run far deeper than that.

Also, unless I missed something, I haven't seen anything definitive saying McDermott is getting bought out right? So while he would be a nice add at this stage it's wishful thinking.
