Beasley has done nothing significant enough to not go in the top two. Earlier this year, I pointed to his character issues as a reason he should not be #1. At this point, they are a non factor now to me.

I completely agree, I only repeated that particular snippet to point out that, if we're going by the "same yardstick" theory, you don't have to dig to hard for some negatives about any of the top 3 (although Mayo's more tied with Lopez for the 3 spot than a firm 3 for me). Like you, I haven't seen anything character related that would make me drop them off/down the draft board.

Draft strategy based on Beatles songs?
"All You Need is (Kevin) Love" in the first round
"A (Devon) Hard(in) Day's Night" with the first second
The entire (D.J.) White album with the second second
"Here Comes the Sun (Ming Ming)" undrafted free agent

I thought that name sounded familiar. Sure enough, he was listed on the roster of the team my brother played for. The confusing thing is that he never played on the team all year. I think it might have been to train for coming over, but I'm not sure. Sounds like he's a pretty good player.

I compare this draft to the Lebron draft

a superstar almost-lock at the top (Rose,Lebron)

a should-be superstar but he will have to battle his own mentality to achieve full potential (Beasley, Carmelo)

a good true center (Lopez, Kaman)

a good but undersized PG (Augustin, Ford)

a bad ass freshman PF/C that everybody rags on before the draft then realizes is totally awesome once they start kicking ass and taking names on the court (Love/Bosh)

a proven player falling way too far (Douglas-Roberts, Josh Howard)

I didn't want to force things by comparing Mayo or Gordon or Bayless to Wade. I'd probably compare Mayo to Kirk Hinrich.

I think you may be onto something with that comparison. Minus the actual Lebron in the draft.

Rose=Wade

Beasley=Melo

Lopez= poor mans Kaman

Jordan=Darko (if he reached potential and was drafted by right team)

Randolph=Bosh?

Love=Collison

Lopez isn't a true C, though. He'd play PF on a lot of teams. Even on this team, on man D, he'd probably be on the PF and Al on the C.

Thats not really how it goes. He'd probably be on the best post player, no matter the position. Defense is not played by position like in NBA 2k8. Otherwise you wouldn't see Bowen guarding Kobe when he plays LA. He'd be defending Radmonovic. Or like Bowen guarding Steve Nash instead of Diaw.

I disagree. Lopez goes 7'0", 260 and played center on perhaps the only college team that boasted two 7 footers. He may have a burgeoning face up and the versatility to guard some power forwards, but he's definitely a center.

Back to deeney's "Draft by Musician" idea, but with the inevitable and predicatable Minnesota twist.

Derrick Rose- "I Want You"- Bob Dylan

Michael Beasley- "Motorpsycho Nitemare"- Bob Dylan

O.J. Mayo- "Maggie's Farm"- Bob Dylan- There were a ton that could have been used for this theme

Brook Lopez- "Idiot Wind"- Bob Dylan- for the suspension. I know, I know, weak.

Kevin Love- "Love Handles"- Keller Williams- No Minnesota connection, but I couldn't resist.

Anthony Randolph- "Ballad of a Thin Man"- Bob Dylan

Deandre Jordan- "Just Like a Woman"- Bob Dylan
