I'd dig Bill Walker in the 2nd, but I can't even imagine him getting that far. He's athletic and big, he can shoot (in theory), he even has a bit of a post game. Coming out of High School he was probably a top 10 pick. He looks recovered from his injury and he had a very respectable season. But then this draft looks like its going to be stacked, there's a chance he gets to the 2nd.

I almost hope he's gone by the time the Wolves pick because I can't handle watching them pass him up which they almost certainly will.

If I had a dream 2nd round scenario, it'd be to get Walker and Hickson. Then add that to Beasley in the first and MN has the most physically dominating team in the Universe.

Call me crazy, but does anyone see a bit of Kevin Garnett in Anthony Randolph?

I think come draft time this will be the consensus top 5:
1. Chi - Rose
2. Mia - Beasley
3. Min - Mayo
4. Sea - Bayless
5. Mem - Anthony Randolph

I think Lopez could slip all the way to the Bobcats at 9 when taking need into account.

I think Memphis will take a long, hard look at him.

Memphis has Marc Gasol coming in don't forget. I think Memphis goes for a 2 or 4 before another 5 (Darko too).

That is a great point Dr K. I had forgot about the other Gasol. It does reduce their need at center, but I think they have to go big on the pick and Lopez could work at 4 or 5. Randolph has upside and brings a different dimension, though I still think Lopez would be their pick due to skill set and better shooting to 10 15 feet. (I think he does, may be wrong there).

I hear that Gasol will not sign. He can make more in europe with the dollar being weak.

did anyone read what chad ford said about Jawai

"The Grizzlies need a power forward with some real power, and Jawai has that in abundance. He's coming off a big year in Australia, and his game resembles Elton Brand's a little. At this point in the draft, he's worth the risk"

Elton Brand :o

Maybe Chad Ford meant the Grizz could get him with their second round pick, or did you already know that?

what do u guys think of taking ty lawson with the 34th pick?

I notice how NC seemed too struggle big when he was injured ,he seems like he could be a steal if he fell to us there which a few mocks have him at

I think he is a good player and should make it in the NBA. The issue is our amout of guards. If we draft Mayo, we add both him and Lawson to potentially Foye, McCants, Telfair (prob not resigned), Jaric, Brewer (both of them play 2, 3 with Jaric also manning some 1), Buckner, (don't expect him to play) and who ever Else I am missing. That is a lot of guard play.

If we don't draft Mayo, don't resign Telfair, etc. there may be a bit more time for him; but I guess we will know more on the team make up the next few weeks after our 1st round pick. Definitely not opposed to the player, but our needs for bigs is a bit more pressing and roster balance is something I probably overly push for.

I hear he will return to school. His injury hurt his draft but I think he will return.

2nd rd we grab best Big man available and then the best project to stash for a couple year. Or we trade them to move up.

If Ajinca falls to the second, it would just be too perfect of a scenario and I see us NOT getting him; he complements Al so much by taking his game out to mid-range(Think of a taller, but poor mans Wallace)

If we take Mayo at #3 I would like to take Chalmers in the second round as Telfairs replacement as the back up PG.He is a good defender who can hit the 3pt shot.

If the draft plays out as DX have it I'd offer Boston their pick next year back for this years pick to take Hardin.

Then maybe take Jawai to leave overseas for a year or Walker if he looks good enough in workouts.

Here is my updated draft board

1. Derrick Rose PG
2. Michael Beasley SF/PF
3. OJ Mayo PG/SG
4. Jerryd Bayless PG/SG
5. DeAndre Jordan C
6. Marreese Speights PF/C
7. Joe Alexander SF
8. Anthony Randolph SF/PF
9. Danilo Gallinari SF
10. Russell Westbrook PG/SG
11. Brook Lopez C
12. Kevin Love PF
13. Eric Gordon SG
14. Javale McGee C
15. Serge Ibaka PF

I promise you that DeAndre Jordan will shoot up team's draft boards once they work him out. There are only 2 other big men in the NBA with his athleticism, Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire.

Marreese Speights probably looks like a shocker to most of you, but he's been compared favorably to Al Jefferson. In his most recent workout, he measured in at 6'11. He had remarkable athleticism, and he had range all the way out to the NBA three. The workout's highlights are at ESPN by Chad Ford.

If you haven't seen footage of Joe Alexander, check him out. He has text book form on his jump shot, and unbelievable leaping ability. He intimidates opponents with his dunks and ferocious blocks.

As you can see, I'm not a big fan of Brook Lopez. As pointed out on the Bucks board, the last big man drafted in the lottery with a college fg% less than 50 was Chris Mihm who shot 49%. Brook also doesn't guard opposing team's best big man, and doesn't rebound at a high rate.
