FU to the apologists and anyone who thinks love and Al is a good idea in the frontcourt.
This is a travesty. If I were Fred Hoiberg I would resign immediately.
with foye, miller, love, and al our d is as good as swiss cheese. miller is overrated.
Memphis is my new favorite team because they have rudy gay and oj mayo, 2 guys who should be wearing our unis right now. They will be exciting to watch, unlike our team which will look like a YMCA pickup team next to the rest of the league.

I feel for freddy getting stabbed in the back like this.

Simply put, this league is about quality, not quantity. You can't substitute more decent players for superstars.

What we needed is a superstar to put next to Big Al. That superstar was OJ Mayo and now he's gone. You don't win with one superstar and 4 other average players. I'm pretty sure we figured that one out with the whole KG thing. Kobe and Shaq win championships...Shaq and Wade win championships..Duncan, Parker and Ginobli win championships..we just lost our chance at a superstar.

If Craig Smith wasn't a good fit at PF next to Jefferson at C and most agreed that Gomes was out of position there, I really don't see how Love makes it work. I'd rather we got Lopez and left Al at PF where he can excel rather than at C where he can get by.

Collins is done.

Moving Jaric's contract was a positive as was getting Miller for Walker's expiring, but Love just disappoints me. Maybe he can throw inbound passes all the way to the hoop for a bunch of Alley Oops and lead the team in assists.

Miller is a pretty crappy defender though.

You're right, Collins solves that problem by not scoring at all. He averages 6.5 points per 36 minutes over his career and he's been below 5 per 36 over the last 3 seasons.

If you guys like Madsen, you will love Collins. He is surely the worst player in the NBA, no matter what Net fans claim about the great screens he sets.

Hoiberg said earlier today that Love's passing is his greatest asset. They'll set him up at the high post to feed Al Jefferson.

I'm just at a loss for words...I'm so sad...I was too wrapped up in the draft all day and now I'm going to fail my damn calc II test tomorrow...probably about as hard as the Wolves failed today...

Foye/Telfair
Miller/McCants
Gomes/Brewer
Love/Cardinal/Madsen (do not sign Craig Smith!)

We are going to be one of the worst defending teams in the league.
What a joke. What a freaking joke.

I can't believe glen taylor allowed this to go through.
I can already hear the crickets at target center this year.
What free agent in their right mind would want to come to a team that made a deal like this.

I guess we freed up more cap space to bring Pekovic over...you know...for another damn front court player to go with supah-star Kevin Love...

The Timberwolves also received shooter Mike Miller and retreads Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins from Memphis in exchange the draft rights to Mayo, forward Antoine Walker and guards Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner.

LMAO, when I first read that, I thought it read, "and retards Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins..."

I didn't learn about this trade until driving home in my car and I literally yelled WTF?

As much as I hate this trade, we have to think rationally and not let our emotions get the best of us.

We had a plethora of guards. Somebody had to go. I really wish it would've been McCants.

I just hated the BS Hoiberg gave about Foye and Mayo working well together in the backcourt. I'm going to reserve my judgement on Freddie because for all we know, this entire trade was McHale's doing. I'm pretty sure if Hoiberg was in control, he'd have kept Mayo.

I'm really at a loss for words right now. A million thoughts and emotions are running through my head. I usually feel that the team giving up the best player in a trade is usually the loser.

Cardinal's deal runs a year shorter than Jaric's. Miller comes off the books the same year (in two years).

I really hope this trade is in preparation for a huge run at a prized free agent in the summer of 2010.

Maybe you can trade your Calc II test for an Econ 101 test, a Political Science essay, and the rights to a Spanish homework assignment that might never have to be turned in.

well that's fine, one problem though. Mayo is NOT a future superstar. He's athletic combo-guard with passing skills, 3-point range and good defense. Future All-Star? No doubt. Superstar? No.

Financially, this is a wash. We add $8.9 mil in salary in 09-10, but save $8.3 the in 10-11 (out from Jaric). It doesn't makesense to me to use all that cap room on Mike Miller, rather than a potential free agent.

MJaric $6,575,000 $7,100,000 $7,625,000
Walker $9,052,460
Buckner $4,010,005

MiMiller $9,128,575 $9,880,957
Cardinal $6,300,000 $6,750,000
JCollins $6,200,000

Yeah, this is bad news for Craig Smith. I bet he's not kept. Telfair and Gomes are back for sure.

Kevin McHale says yes, and I'll toss in $50
