You are about to make a trade....

Post#1 » by Jack wore plaid » Sat Jul 26, 2008 1:24 am

Hi there.

I am going to say this once, and once only. If you don't believe me I don't care.

A very close friend of my wife's told her to tell me that Minnesota was going to be acquiring Brandon Wright from Golden State as part of a three way trade. Should happen in the next few days I think

Isn't Wright one of the guys who the wolves highly considered drafting? If so I wouldn't be surprised by this. McHale has a thing about getting guys he wants. He always gets his man eventually, even if it is years down the line.

Another PF?'

What would we trade? Our TE and some future firsts? Gomes?

I just talked mentioned this to a buddy who said there was a brief comment about it on ESPN a minute ago (I'm guessing during the USA vs. Canada game).

I can't imagine it's just for a TPE and a so-so first or two (although talking about first round picks like they're a dime a dozen after so many years without any is F-U-N).

Kind of fishy with the timing on Gomes being resigned. Also mumbling seems to be about Atlanta and Golden State talking with Biedrins and J-Smoove. Are we jumping in and facilitating? Wouldn't Wright be a pretty frickin' high price to get to big pieces like that moved in a double sign and trade?

Interesting. The GSW-ATL trade rumor about Wright plus others for Smith popped up on the GSW board yesterday, and then this morning Banks posted a rumor on a different Twolves board about a three way trade between MN-GSW-ATL in which we would get Wright and I think he said give up McCants or Carney and maybe a pick. Not sure if all these guys are just reading each others posts or this is actually going to happen, but will make for a fun couple of days waiting.

I actually thought Wright was a guy that it came out after the draft that Mchale didn't like at all? Could be wrong about that. Although he is another PF, he does add something different that Love and Jefferson. He's a really long athlete who can block some shots and really get up and down the floor although he's still really really thin. D. Thorpe who does chats on ESPN loves the guy, but said in a chat this week that he's heard Nellie hates him, so it's very possible that he gets moved. I saw GSW once in summer league, I wasn't that impressed with Wright although it is just summer league (btw, it might take a couple years, but I think Anthony Randolph is going to be a stud).

If we do get Bellinelli, it would make some sense. Even though he's a SG, he can play a little PG in a pinch so he could act as our third PG/combo guard type that Mchale says he wants.

Rumors about a big three way trade coming right around the same time that the FO announces resigning Gomes. Makes me wonder if the two are related???

Because we are trying to corner the market in young PF's and then use our quasi-monopoly position to extort serious overpayment from the other teams in the league as they find out that the shelves are bare in the young PF department.

:dontknow:

Either that or we are planning on grafting Brewer and Wright together to create a player that is of normal width for their height.(albeit strange looking with the 2 heads and 4 arms and legs)

Interesting. I wasn't as big a fan as others were, but I would welcome a trade for him.

Why does this entire post sound like it was concocted by Devilz? Especially the last bit

I played with the numbers a bit. Its what I do.

Gomes $3.5 (S&T, first year estimate)
McCants: $2.62

MIN OUT: 4.37 $1.75 + $2.62
125%+ $100,000 $3.37 - $5.57

GSW IN: 6.12
125% + $100,000 4.82 - 7.75

Can GSW land a package between $3.37 - $4.82?

Marco Belinelli 1,446,720
Brandan Wright 2,497,320

Total: $3.94 .. this works financially .. I don't know about trade values.

People get way to caught up in positions. You have one point, two wings, and two posts.

Wright is a defensive big. That means he should be able to play well alongside all our offense-oriented bigs (which we have a few). He can play alongside Al. He can play with Craig. You can put him with Love. I probably would recommend having him and Collins together though, unless its garbage time.
