RUMOR - Timberwolves Coaching Search

Post#1 » by GrizzledGrizzFan » Thu Jun 18, 2009 12:42 pm

From the for what it's worth department - Ron Tillery, beat writer for the Grizz, said on his radio show this morning that Kahn is targeting Mike Fratello (former Cavs and Grizz head coach) as the next coach for the Wolves. Tillery said he had this from multiple sources and may put it in print after some more follow up. I'm sure I'll get flamed for posting this - but Ron's pretty well connected and typically doesn't go off half cocked. I also hope for y'all's sake the the information is incorrect.

we could do worse. Fratello is out of his era though, I don't think his skills are conducive to today's game

That would be painful. We better get a good coach in here who can actually develop our youth.

From what I remember about Fratello, he is a good to very good coach but the team will eventually hate him because of his personality. Would this be the anti-Mchale as a coach?

Good Coach, after Witman, Casey and McHale, I would like an experienced and experienced in wins, someone competent and Fratello meets the profile.

That would be one of the worst candidates I could come up with. There are very legit reasons he not currently coaching ... Most of all he's historically had poor personnel relationships with his former teams, and I'm not talking about social fun guy things ... he just has a way about him that is not good ...

one positive would be we're not athletic enough to play real defense, and Czar's teams excel at playing cheating fouling grabbing defense and thats what we need to do, cheat.

Jaques Lemaire, and we can just clutch and trap our way to 70-65 final scores.

Blah. So lets recap. Kevin Love for the #2. Al Jefferson and the #6 for Amare. Mark Jackson as coach wihout ANY coaching experience. Can you imagine how awful we would be if that went down.

I know they're just rumors, but why can't they be GOOD rumors.

I was thinking the same thing. Why no rumors that favor of the Wolves? I want to see a Foye for Westbrook rumor or something along those lines.

Alright, I'll start one. I just twittered Foye for Westbrook being discussed. It should be on wiretap in a few.

How about a "Stan Van Gundy fired by Magic for losing Finals; instantly hired by Timberwolves"

I'd be happy with that rumor.

We know that Love is a Laimbeer clone.

And that Rubio and Flynn are supposed to be the next Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars.

So, considering that there is only one former Bad Boy Piston available, I'm guessing our guy will be .... Jackson.

Well, luckily Thibideau doesn't have much hair left to pull out. Because I don't see this group being able to play much D.
