And then what does Marks counter with?

I don’t know I want something like that to happen, but he would fit the rest of this roster like a glove. He’d probably average 16apg with Bridges, Cam J, Clax and whoever else running with him lol.

I have some reservations about Trae but it would be a fun team for sure and add another dimension to Nets vs. Knicks games.

Knicks fans despite Trae after he sonned them the way that he did in the playoffs.

I have major reservations about Trae, but yeah, would be a highly entertaining team to watch and those Knix games lol.

Yup, Trae will sell tickets, jerseys and get national press, good and bad. Generates clicks.

My main reservations with Trae is he almost certainly cannot win you a title as your best player, but his style of play dictates he be exactly that.

i could 100% see a trae deal.

in terms of trade cost, he's got 4 super max years on the books. he's 25 years old. the mitchell trade is probably the comparison. think that's 3 unprotected firsts and 2 pick swaps.

i think atlanta would ask for the 3 phoenix picks and maybe their pick swap too. probably DFS, Dinwiddie for salary match. maybe Dinwiddie, Cam J?

would i do that? id try like crazy to keep at least 2 unprotected picks from pho/dal, but yeah id probably do it. like you said hand in glove fit.

yea you trade the picks for Trae. Signed long term and is one of those players that can give you a good offense all on his own. Seems to step up in the playoffs as well. Not likely you draft anyone on his level with any of the picks

with trae they are basically the suns pre-kd with trae in the book role. that net team may have a little more depth too.

gosh no on Trae eww ! can't believe you guys want that kid, please keep him far away, he's not that guy. He's a chucker and he always needs the ball in his hands, and he's a negative on defense, a chair can defend better than him. No on trae and no on Mitchell. We're trying to build a solid team here, a contending team, not a treadmill. Trae had one fluke season where the Hawks went to the ECF, his team is just as bad this year as we are lol.

We should of went after Rozier, we could of made a better offer than the HEATs did. But now we can make an offer for Murray. He's cheaper than Trae and Mitchell and we still need a leading guard for this season and next. IDK who else is available

nobody anywhere close to as good as the 2 guys you just said you dont want

i swear sometimes i think im taking crazy pills.

we dont want to trade for legit all nba players because that's "a treadmill team".
but KD/Kyrie were a mistake because they are prima donnas.
(what were shaq and lebron when they went to LAL and MIA?)

so what's the alternative? lose enough to pray for ping pong balls to deliver the next wemby? ok that will only take 10-20 years. and instead probably end up with the next favors or oden. after waiting 4 years to get control of their picks back.

The irony is dealing said picks for a scrub like Rozier, or a good but flawed player in Murray. So it’s not just preferring those guys to Mitchell and Trae, it’s also giving up some of the premium picks to get them and losing the organic rebuild in the process.

I’m so confused lol. :dontknow:

And Papi, before you tell us you never said give up any of the premium picks, you just said we could have easily beat Miami’s offer. There offer included a lotto protected pick, but what do we have better? The Philly pick is even with that one for various factors. Murray will cost a little more and the Lakers are supposedly offering their own ‘29 1st either unprotected, or lightly.

I hate Rozier, especially on a roster like this, but I’m keen on Murray if they find a way to get him on the cheap. Not ok with any of the Phoenix or Dallas picks, or our own futures without at least permanent top 10 protections. Even then, makes future deals harder.

I'm not a fan. We need some two way players beyond Bridges, not another offensive/defensive specialist that will kill '25 cap space. He's also a poor fit with Mitchell if Mitchell is in fact our ultimate target.

Yeah, Idk. Herro is a legitimately good player, he’s young and his contract isn’t bad per say, he can run an offense in spurts as well, but long term not sure.

Then again, he provides that late game ball handler/initiator/scorer/playmaker this team so desperately lacks and why we’re where we are instead of hovering around.500.

Vaughn has cost us a lot, but simply a player of Herro’s ilk and ability probably overcomes JV’s ineptitude and wins us half of those close ones and collapses.

I mean how many of those losses can you legitimately and realistically say, if we had scored literally one more bucket during the opposition’s run, before they tied it, or took back the lead, we would have won?

And then how many of these games have there been the past 15ish matches? A lot.

Honestly just having a guy like Herro or Murray and we may very well be a game or 2 over .500.

As frustrating as this season has been, that’s why we’re still just one true star, a couple minor tweaks and a coaching change away from being a Miami type dark horse.

Herro is better than Cam Thomas, but like Thomas he gets hunted on defense. Would Vaughn be willing to ride with him in crunch time or would he go with better defenders?

The Nets need a 2 way PG more than anything else.

Our team desperately needs a consistent, cohesive direction.

That's not to say we must either tank or contend. We simply need to have a roster that makes sense, and an organizational strategy. Right now, it seems we've taken the best pieces from the Irving and Durant trades, and we're slowly watching them lose value every day because they don't mesh with each other, or with the rest of the roster.

i proposed that one (dfs +royce for herro) on t&t board. I think it works for nets big time, dont think it works for miami as much. but maybe they think herro's defense is too big of a flaw for a contending team?

i've wanted herro since the summer, and now he's closed out games against us twice i think better than anyone we have against anyone else. if you get him, I think ideally he's playing next to someone with a simmons-y skillset who can play D and ball handle. so with simmons being a total dud i think he's less of a fit.

i think he's a massive upgrade over cam thomas though. much better shooter, much better end of game operator. so if you get herro, i think either cam embraces a 6th man role or you trade him.

dejounte vs herro is interesting. herro the better shooter, dejounte the likely better defender/distributor.

both are huge >>>> upgrades end of game, albeit obviously not elite in that regard. but both probably Brunson level.

I would see if Detroit is interested in Herro, and what they'd be willing to give up. They would probably have interest in a young, win-now player that can take pressure off of Cade.

interesting, sacramento is an interesting connecting team for a potential murray trade. they have their own picks from 2025+. they dont have their 2024 pick, so i think the earliest one they can deal is the 2026 pick, which lotto protected feels like a fair value for DFS along with some kind of non-negative value salary filler. Nets could deal DFS or both DFS/Royce to SAC, the 2026 sac pick and filler to ATL, and then Murray to Nets.

you guys are taking crazy pills. In order to get Mitchell or Trae we would have to give up most if not all of those picks we got, and those 2 guys would not make us that much better so whats the point? Look at Trae's team now, they haven't been good for years so how much better you guys think we'll get by adding him? exactly. You guys just want to throw picks away at any decent player but not getting the whole picture. We need 2 way players, not guys that just dominate on offense and do it on horrible efficiency like Trae Young, that's not a winning recipe, it's a recipe for disaster.

Rozier at least plays both sides of the court, or at least he tries on defense while putting up almost as good numbers on offense like your boy Trae Young is who you guys are dying over. It only took 1 pick to get him while it's going to take 4 or more picks for Trae. Meanwhile Rozier is putting up 23/4/7 on solid efficiency, Trae isn't 3 picks better than Rozier, a guy that is not a stiff on defense and is actually a dog. Same goes for Murray. I don't know why you guys just want to throw away all our picks like they're candy, especially to guys that aren't that good or wouldn't even make us that much better. It just doesn't make sense
