its poor peoples fault. they get a free ride while we have to spend our hard earned money on rising prices because they are freeloaders...

the laws/repeals of oversight on Lobbying in the 70s led to the expedited erosion of american politics.
-You used to not be allowed to lobby
-Then you could Lobby, but only a certain amount of money
-Then you could lobby an unlimited amount, but it had to be public record
-Then you could lobby, any amount, hide the donor, but were subject to a closed audit (donor never revealed to public)
Today: You can lobby, any amount, hide the donor, and it is illegal to audit or seek the identity without a federal subpoena.
Combined that with senators having no term limit and you basically have billionaires who can buy the law/politicians for 40-50 years with no reprecautious and do it without the public even knowing who the lobbyists are. And now, as pork in cybersecurity bills they are trying to slide in that lobbyists can not be prosecuted for bribary and senators/congress are immune to criminal charges for taking money from a lobby in bad faith.
this is supposed to be a democracy? where elected officials can be paid and undisclosed amount of money from an undisclosed party and act on law/bills any way the see fit and ignore their constituents or even change sides of the aisle?
fortunately for washington the average american knows nothing about politics, law, the constitution, or even when voting happens for their city/state elections.
