What is a Dion Phaneuf?

Good riddance.

Never seen such an abysmal "captain" for the Leafs.

I made a vow 2 years ago that until Kessel and Phaneuf were gone, I wouldn't watch the leafs.

Now I have no more excuses :( especially with Babcock

On the weekend from our media: So Lebron, what do you think of the Phaneuf trade?

What the Leafs are doing is a Raptors Real Gmer's wet dream. So many prospects, so much tanking. And we're about to sign Durant, Uh Stamkos in the off season.

This has quietly been one of the best Leaf seasons in a while. Time to dump the rest and let Hunter take over.

Looks good. People who know hockey prospects seem to like Lindberg. Michalek can be traded for another pick I think. I didn't realize that Cowen is now considered a useless throw in. At 25 maybe he still has a chance.

Phaneuf's value seemed to me to be playing a lot of minutes at an OK level instead of bad. If he was a baseball player 220 IP 3.90 ERA. That may be valuable but I'd rather not pay a star contract for it.

solid trade for the leafs. we were able to get rid of phaneuf's contract which only benefits us in our rebuilding phase.

Finally, the Leafs have management who have the balls to do a proper rebuild. All this junk about rebuilding on the fly and plugging a few holes was all nonsense. Even if it means not making the playoffs for several seasons, the Leafs are finally a fun team to watch.

A salary dump, essentially. None of the guys we got back will yield any sort of return. The only value we picked up was that draft pick.

As a Leafs fan in Ottawa, this was an interesting deal. A city's favourite player to crap on was traded to them. Half of them were disgusted while the others were confused. None of them were happy, despite the fact that he was pretty much the thing they've been looking for the most - a workhorse, left-handed shot defenseman.

From a Toronto perspective, I think that fans and the media were a little unfair to Phaneuf. It was kinda like yelling at a Big Mac for not being a steak. At the end of the day, the guy played a lot of games. He seemed to play hard, for the most part... I was happy to hear from a die-hard Sens fan that Lindberg is a legit prospect. Apparently, he's a two-way player, a gifted passer more than a finisher. Getting a second rounder is a big deal too. I'm not convinced Cowan is as bad as he was in Ottawa. The other two guys are filler.
