Montreal's loss tonight is big for us. Now they're largely tied with Boston, with Mtl having a road heavy schedule and Bos a home heavy one

Sweet baby jesus if a Tor Mtl 4th/5th seed series happens. Last time was 79. TSN didn't exist! They've been waiting a while...

20 of the last 26 points and 1 regulation loss in the last month, starting right after the point I thought the grim tanker was knocking on the door - insane! Too bad we don't have a better shot at the 2nd seed, that would've been fun to at least approach it

We did the Bruins a favour tonight, and they couldnt pull out the W in Carolina.

As much as I just want to see playoff hockey, I want also want to have a shot of making it to the second round.

What a great feeling to be thinking about who we'll play in the playoffs. lol Been so long. But I think there's enough time left in the season for our team to improve enough that maybe we'll be able to take on any team.

Leafs can clinch a playoff spot tonight.

Ive been reading around and I dont understand why people are giving Nonis the credit when this entire team was all Brian Burke.

I give the credit to Randy Carlyle (or not Ron Wilson)

That is still up in the air.

Most likely Boston or Montreal, with a slight chance of a Southeast team.

It's a parody of this. On the show "Winter is Coming" is a repeated phrase

Leafs now control destiny for the 4th seed and home ice. If we win out, including beating Montreal the last game, Leafs get 4th. If the Leafs go 3-0 and Boston goes 1-2 (or 0-1-2), Leafs get 2nd seed :o

Ahhh, thanks.

It's still hard to believe the Leafs are going to be playing meaningful hockey this year! The final game against MTL should be a good one especially if it becomes who wins gets home ice advantage in the 1st round.

I'm surprised I'd say this but I'd prefer to play Boston in the 1st. I think we need to exorcise those demons and playing a series against them I think is just what this team needs to realize they're in the same league as the Bruins. Regardless who they play, I'm expecting a good tight series.

So here's the possiblities going into tonight:

Leafs Win - We definitely see MTL first round as the 5 seed.

Leafs Lose - Bunch of Possibilites:
Boston Related-
A - Boston Loses both games left - Montreal ends up 2nd. Boston vs Toronto or Ottawa series
B - Boston wins both or get a win and OTL - Boston ends up second. Montreal vs Toronto Series
C- Boston loses Wash to but get 1 point or better against the Sens tomorrow - Boston vs Toronto series
Ottawa Related -
A- Sens win both left - Leafs end up sixth. Toronto vs Wash Series.
B- Sens loses to Philly but get OTL against Boston after Boston beats Wash - Toronto vs. Montreal.
C- Sens lose to Philly but get OTL against Boston after Boston loses to Wash - Toronto vs. Boston.
D - Sens lose both and Boston beats Wash - Toronto vs. Montreal.

Penguins have secured first
Boston could finish 2 or 4
Washington has secured 3
Montreal could finish 2 or 4
Toronto could finish 5 or 6
Sens could finish between 5 and 8
Isles could finish between 6 and 8
Rangers could finish between 6 and 8

So no matches are determined yet.

I think that covers it. Just judging on how we have played them this year, I think the Leafs really want to meet Montreal and not Boston or Washington.

So we need a Boston win later tonight to face Montreal.

Go Bruins go....just not right typing that.

Return to Toronto Maple Leafs
