Capitals sign defensemen Tom Poti to a 4 year/$14 million deal. He's 30 years old, apparently not a top notch defensemen but still solid. Played for the New York Islanders last season, had 6 goals and 38 assists.

Capitals sign Center Viktor Kozlov to a 2 year/$5 million deal. He's a 32 year old center. Played with the New York Islanders last season and had 25 goals and 26 assists.

I'm under the impression that while Leonsis has told McPhee to spend some money, he's not going to go after the big guys (Drury, Gomez, etc). Ovechkin and Semin are due for contract extensions next offseason.

Capitals sign Michael Nylander to a 4 year deal.

I like these signings by the Capitals.

The signing of Kozlov will give the Capitals more depth at the wing for the 2nd line. As long as he plays like he did last season. He is known as a lazy player.
