Re: PG: let's try that again
as usual the stupid-insane takes:
1/ sit brunson in game 5, and play him in 6 and 7
an all time stupid thing to ever be written. so basically, purposely lose a home game, 5, and ask him to hero ball away in 6.
2/ mitch is a weapon in the pnr
just **** lol
3/ ihart has played bad.
imagine blaming a guy thats playing 40 minutes a game and averaging 10 ppg, being told to switch the Hali-turner pnr by his coach
and then
unironically thinking that mitch with 1 leg would be better defending guards 1 on 1 on the perimeter
so, he must be playing bad.
or
not understanding that turner starts every possession at the 3pt line.
4/ adjustments
bros, there are no more adjustments to make. we are down to playing our 8th and 9th guys 30-40minutes a game just to fill holes. that's not called making adjustments.
being forced to play burks or precious 30 minutes is not an adjustment.
actual things no one written about:
our first guy off the bench before OG was hurt has disappointed on both ends of the court for 2 series now. he had 1 game but otherwise has fired off 8 or 9, whatever it is straight duds ON BOTH ends.
that's miles McBride.
TJ McConnell has something like 4 total turnovers this series and one of them was because Burks forced him to travel. that's been the state of McBride's play this series.
the complaining about playing precious:
this is what happens when you are in a series thats ABOUT offense and not defense. indiana shoots so quickly into the shot clock that your defense is deprioritized in terms of impact. and even worse, Precious' strength is primarily as a help defender rotating down the lane. not as a primary 1 on1 guy.
we need dudes to score. thats what this series is about. precious needs to be the backup 5.

Who is everyone?
Only Brunson, Hart and OG have averaged over 40 mpg so far in the playoffs and one can argue it's because we are so short handed that we had no other choice.
Boston (Tatum 38), Cleveland (Spida 38.2), Denver (Jokic 39.9, Murray 38.3, Porter 38.0, Gordon 37.9), Minnesota (Antman 40.0), OKC (SGA 38.9, Jalen Williams 37.1), Dallas (Luka 41.9, Kyrie 39.9) are all playing a lot of minutes so it's not a Thibs and NYK thing!
All of those teams arent dependent on one player, not like the knicks are, that's why it's failing. Tatum or brown could have a night off and the other could go off for 40, if jalen doesnt hit 40 the knicks have almost no chance of winning. Im sure Randle helps next year, but then again he might not in the playoffs we dont know.
you gotta hedge and get someone else, if that's spida, if that's murray, idk who but someone

guys that think 2 days of rest
after
playing 40 mpg for a month+ straight
is going to actually change his energy levels
HAVE NEVER competed or tried to compete in athletics.
if you want him to recover, he's gonna need WEEKS to ramp down and back up again to be in peak condition. 2 days of rest isn't gonna change **** after hes been playing 40mins for the last 40 games.

He is a liability on defense and cant post up on offense nor run a basic PnR... just some passing off the high post and pick and pop with his floater inside the paint
At least Mitch is great on D, very good on PnR running to the basket, rebs and putbacks...
Also OG being injury prone doesnt help... his knees look shot most of the time and he cant post up without going like Zach Randolph to get a block 3 times out of 4... we miss a lot an inside out game that Randle at least provided for us though not with great efficiency a lot of times
Mitch is a major weapon in PNR? I'll have to say no
Yes he is... a lob threat and Brunson can freely launch 12-feet and less jumpers, floaters, runners and layups with the idea that there is a body who can grab the miss and put it back!

I’ve played sports my entire life. Basketball, football and boxing. 2 days of rest and treatment can do wonders for your energy levels. Where do you get this nonsense from?

That's the bigger issue than playoff minutes and is why you need a bench. Not for the playoffs, but for the regular season so that guys aren't dead when you get there.

Heck a couple of hours in a well equiped suana can do wonders....being in your 20's also doesn't hurt.

It absolutely is, but mostly potential because we dont do it nearly as much as we should. But yeah no reason for it not to be CP3 - Deandre Jordan part 2.

We just need what we have to be healthy. Take the #2 , #3 and defensive anchor(Mitch) and 6 man scoring off of the Celtics and watch them collapse faster than Walt Clyde can say "look out!"..

Mitch‘s body can‘t handle the minutes he got early on, before getting hurt. But Thibs rode him into the ground and IHart was just getting backup minutes. Mitch gets hurt, then Ihart played too much (he also can‘t handle it.) Rinse and repeat. Now Mitch is gone for the playoffs and IHart seems to be following w freak injury.
We all know OG shouldn‘t be playing a lot cause he gets these little injuries. Thibs ran him till exhaustion. The doc video mentioned overplaying I thought. Thibs doesn‘t adjust unless the team docs tell him too.
Randle was overused and tired and at the end of the game he had a bad fall. Similar to IHart being tired imo.
So predictable.
And the thing is we had a guy like Precious who really helped us win game two, not get played in the next game. Thibs is so inflexible. He often won’t ride what works,
What did that NBA player survey say about playing for Thibs?
Is it making sense yet?
When you get guys playing too much, these “fluke” injuries happen.

Not surprised that we lost (although I was surprised by the magnitude of the loss).
We have a tired, banged-up group, coming off a last-second, heartbreaking loss.
You play the regular season games for home court. We have it. Hopefully, OG will be healthy enough to play and make a meaningful impact.
If we lose, it's only because all the injuries caught up with us.
Well said
When we win Thibs is one of best coaches in the L, when we lose or even mid we want him gone
I know we should support him but it's hard, I understand his philosophy you have to go with guys who can give you the best chance to win, but his playing guys 46+ mins is taking a toll, proof is in the pudding guys are dropping like flies, and of course usually this happens toward end of seasons when it matters most. There's a reason why the most successful coaches like Phil, Riley, Spo and Kerr don't play who they deemed their most important players 46+ mins, that's just way too extreme, and Thibs' too stubborn to change.
"Pacers are fresh and we are banged up", well no ****, if Thibs wants to change this situation from playing over and over every season he better learn and change his ways, we pretty much went from title contenders to potentially a 2nd rd exit to a team that many think doesn't belong in 2nd rd in the first place!!!
"Well Thibs wasn't out there injuring our players and guys like OG and Mitch are injury prone, we can't blame Thibs". Is we being decimated all Thibs' fault? No. But his playing guys 46+mpg is far from blameless as to why we are decimated.
