The game was over when the lineup couldn't get after Sears. Their bullpen is legit.

I think once the Yankees stopped having homerun hitters up and down the lineup a few years ago it really began to expose how much of a one trick pony Cashman was at building an offense. If you have difficulty winning games through basic fundamentals, like dropping down a bunt or working the count, then your offense is going to look like what it did today.

Our last couple of wins had little to nothing to do with the hitters who were brought back from last season. They won Friday because of Soto and they beat Tampa yesterday because of Verdugo. It is exasperating to watch nearly the same tired and boring lineup that we have been watching since the second half of 2022.

I was excited when we added Soto but i knew the impact is not as significant as the hype. The yankees were almost dead last in offense rating last year, adding one player wouldnt make that big of a difference.

On Friday, it was Volpe that hit the go-ahead run. Soto did amazing that final AB for what would be the game-winning runs.

Verdugo hit the go-ahead single yesterday, but Stanton, Rizzo, and Torres earned their walks to load the bases. Kudos to Verdugo (along with Trevino and Cabrera) for capitalizing.

To your credit, I've said I respect OBP as a stat, but sometimes you need a that guy with the higher average as a walk just isn't gonna bring that runner from second home. However, I just think those victories against TB were more team wins in hindsight and not the lone batter type of win.

I like to believe Judge still turns it around (for my own sanity) and I'm gonna have faith in Wells's development. I'm gonna try to stay calm (for the most part) since it's only been 23 games in a 162 game season. That's like 14% of the season.

Tomorrow, it's only gonna be more difficult. Blackburn's been on an absolute tear this season although he almost looked human in his last start.

In better news than today, Spencer Jones is having a good start in Jersey. In 6 games, he's slashing .381/.458/.571. After the spring he had, I'm not entirely sure why he didn't start in AAA.

Why was Trevino, who can't hit his way out of a paper bag, not trying to advance the leadoff runner in the 8th inning by bunting? Why is Gleyber swinging out of his shoes in each of his at bats instead of looking for the base hit? Why is Judge chasing every pitch out of the strike zone instead of working the count like he's done his entire career? The reason why most of our hitters are batting .200 is because they refuse to do those fundamental things and are going by what Cashman and his team are coaching them to do, which is to hit 430 ft bombs. Even a guy like Soto, who is known for his plate discipline and offensive prowess, is starting to regress a bit because he is becoming a victim of this horrible hitting culture that has plagued the team for years.
