This draft is probably one of the worst in recent memory. I think you'd have to go back to the 2000 draft to find that was as weak. Maybe it's just me.

That said, a guy that I do like that is in the "sneaky" category is NBA Africa Academy's Ulrich Chomche. 6'11" 235lb 18 year old.

Here's clips of him on Instagram

He's raw as expected (he's currently projected to be one of the youngest players in this draft) but not so raw that you can't see some serious NBA upside. He's got nice size, he's quick for a big, jumps very well especially when he challenges shots he's going up not forward and up where fouls start happening. He runs the floor, he appears to have range from deep and he is coordinated. As his body matures (and he has a very nice frame that seems to be able to carry more weight and bulk unlike a lot of other African bigs) his explosiveness should improve. Whats very important also is he shows very good awareness and his positioning on both ends (but especially on the defensive end) seems a good deal on feel defensively as well as finding open teammates for outlet passes and quick zips which tells me that he can make the adjustment to the NBA. You can't teach feel and natural ability.

With Mitch perpetually injured it seems, IHart a FA and possibly gone and Sims very limited from a skill standpoint, taking a look at Chomche might not be a bad idea even if you draft and stash him.

It's weak at the top, but I've heard it's a deep draft. With two picks in the early 20s (ish) picks, the Knciks might do well. Either by draft or trade.
Now it's all about the off-season for my Knicks. (and rooting for Boston to crush Indiana).

Draft order is based on regular season end standing or seeding after play ins?

Zach Edey is suddenly in the first round in some mocks now. Ringer: #17. Tankathon: #21. I've only seen him pegged at mid-2nd round until this point, going back to last season

Why the change though? His numbers this year look nearly identical to last years

seeding after playins i believe - but only for the 7/8 that actually make it.

Maybe some folks see a Walter Kessler in him?

I think folks are trying to project out his game to the NBA. The guy is definitely talented and you can even say he has some unicorn like tools. Not sure if he'd fit every system but when you take into account his size/strength combo and his footwork/feel there is a possibility that he can be a force offensively and on the boards. One thing that I think works in his favor is that he's actually an excellent free throw shooter and he gets to the line a ton, ton, ton. He has great instincts on the offensive end and has the strength to get deep post position very quickly. And once he's inside a lot of times is either a basket or a foul. When he catches the ball he keeps the ball up high and executes quickly making it hard to defend. I'm not sure of many NBA centers that can handle him physically.

He's not a Thibs player. Belongs on one of those silly, fruity teams like the OKC Thunder playing with Chetty and the other softies.

That said . . . probably a lottery pick if this is to be believed, so OKC will have to trade up to get him.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/why-zvonimir-ivisic-will-be-a-lottery-pick-in-the-2024-nba-draft/ar-BB1hjqe4?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=a37172d64cfa48d0a450b0c7050726ba&ei=16

Knicks will probably draft a couple 24 year olds, a PF or undersized C and a guard who can almost shoot, because . . . it's what we do.
Now it's all about the off-season for my Knicks. (and rooting for Boston to crush Indiana).

A lot happens in 20 years, huh?!

I moved from Alabama to Alaska, back to Alabama, and now I work in TV news in Milwaukee.

How about you?

Nothing that interesting.

I was a full-time caretaker for my mom for 14 years. Now I'm trying to figure things out and semi-retired. But, we should move this to personal messages rather than keep filling up the draft board with reminiscing.
