Anyone else checking out the Red/Meth Verzuz tonight? It's 420, and as amazing as the Knicks are right now, I'm just going to monitor them on the side while trying to unwind from this crazy day with some classic 90s sh*t that makes me think of simpler times (in my life).

DJ Scratch is absolutely DESTROYING this pregame. Holy sh*t.

Knicks win 7 in a row, and Red & Meth have been tearing it down themselves AND with guests. Cameos have been outstanding. RZA, Mr. Funke, Inspectah Deck, Havoc, DJ Kool, etc.

Currently ripping Head Banger with the Hit Squad. EPMD and K Solo making this a beautiful night!

This whole thing has been like a concert. Amazing.

Damn, damn, damn. There's too much of this happening lately. The connective tissue to our youth (and the dead) is being lost. F*ck.

Damn.

Just bear with an old head for minute. Give this Tom Jones version of The White Stripes song "One More Cup of Coffee For The Road" a listen because when I did I immediately thought that there should be a rap telling the other side of the story in the background and then build from there. It seems to be a good song to mix in a rap with. Btw, Tom sings this song 100,000x better than The White Stripes. One of the great soul/blues singers of all time.

Styles and Havoc just dropped a project, "Wreckage Manner". Hav's first new work since P passed over 4 years ago.

New Kendrick dropping soon, and he just posted this masterpiece. Lord have mercy did that video get deep. It feels like the guy isn't even human, he's operating on a different plane.

Third verse gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it. I'm trying to think if there has ever been an era where the "best rapper alive" discussion was this cut and dried. Not that he's the GOAT, but all the other GOATs had some immediate rival to claim the top of their era. JayZ/Nas, Pac/Big, Rakim/Kane (I think based on what I've heard, but it's before my time to say). Kendrick has gone a long time without a clear rival imo.

he really is, and it's insane because his close rival i think would be Cole and he's lapped him

I'm going to preface this with I really don't hate Kendrick even though this will come off as that...I can appreciate his skill and his lyrical ability without necessary liking it.

My take with Kendrick is that since Section 80/GKMC his stuff just hasn't been for me... I've just always felt he tried too hard to be the voice for of the "deep perspective" rap fans and his albums became too abstract for me to really care what he has to say. I feel like he found the balance best on GKMC between listenability and providing an interesting perspective on his upbringing in Compton and how society shaped that. I'm also a sucker for a "coming of age" tale. Maybe that makes me a "bad rap fan" but hey I can't help what I like and don't like to listen too :dontknow: I also don't think he's really evolved or diversified his flow enough for me. Most of his flow is that fast machine gun style and I just get tired of it after a while.

As far as the best rapper doing it convo I don't think Kendrick can lay claim to that after taking the hiatus he did. Others will disagree, I get it, but it's always pissed me off when rappers a la Jay Electronica don't drop music and then come in and start saying nobody can eff with them on the mic... Like you're not even doing the bare minimum of you know putting music out there to be considered the best

I'm not going to start claiming who is better than Kendrick because that convo always becomes dumb and stupid and people yelling at each other lol. But just felt like I needed to get the Kendrick thoughts off my chest.

Don't kill me
