Offense propelled by our Brunson Burner. Defense even without OG, our after-burner.

I definitely agree with you that Toronto didn't view RJ's contract as "toxic", even if other front offices do per Zach Lowe. I didn't mean to suggest that they viewed it as such. It wouldn't make sense based on the details of the trade. I just see a range of possibilities for this deal, none of which approaches "toxic" territory in the case of Toronto.

In the end, it was a reasonable deal for both sides. Time will tell if it tilts in favor of one or the other. I personally hope it works out for all sides including the players. Would be a nice story if he could stay in Toronto and become an impactful player in whichever role there.

That report/tweet, even if true, seemed shady as hell. I think it's been clear for some time most NBA fans don't know his game, and thought he was good. Maybe there were quite a few executives around the NBA that didn't know his game, but a division rival as close as Toronto to New York? There's no way they wouldn't know our entire roster very well. Which makes me think either they REALLY love IQ, or they really think they can 'fix' RJ.

If Precious can learn to shoot like Toppin, he would become a fixture and would become the Taj of this team (when compared to Thibs Bulls). Taj would logically become the Kurt Thomas of those same Bulls.

Not necessarily. One could argue that both players would’ve never reached their potential in NY no matter what. Randle was in RJ’s way and Brunson in Quickley’s. Could it have worked? Yes, maybe with a different coach. But we can’t play hypotheticals. With our style of play, this was the only possible outcome.

Ummm... necessarily.

If we had two all stars buried behind Brunson and Randle...then we should have gotten a much bigger haul for them in trades. Which means we lost the trade. Which means we have the worst GM in history of your scenario proves true.

They were not allstars here and would not have been allstars given the current coach and offensive schemes. If they turn into allstars in Toronto that says more about how they are being used and prioritized in the offense. With the Knicks that just wasn’t going to happen. If you want to say that makes the Knicks appear to lose the trade, that’s fine, but that assertion is hypothetical because they wouldn’t have attained that level here.

OG was leaving and they saw in IQ the type of guy we've been searching for in a wing (young, efficient, breakout potential, about to get paid but not by his incumbent team) on the market.

Quickley is/was a very valuable trade piece. Multiple 1sts type situation.

The Hawks have interest in trading for Siakam and the Knicks have interest in trading for Murray. If Siakam goes to the Hawks, Murray would not be going anywhere.

The rumors surrounding Mitchell have been blown out of proportion in recent weeks. Mitchell remains happy in Cleveland, league sources told ClutchPoints, and has given the Cavs no reason to believe that he is wanting to leave anytime soon.

Chemistry and fit vs potential. The Knicks gave up potential for chemistry and fit. This isn't unlike the Sixers going all in with Iverson by trading away young players for proven vets.

So yeah if OG cutting and slashing isn't a standard option in the offense going forward, there's a serious problem.

Seeing IQ as a future perennial All Star is delusional IMO. There is a reason he shoots floaters — he doesn’t have the explosion or handle to get into traffic. He also perhaps doesn’t like contact. He’s never been clutch.

If he is a good starter; that is probably the high water mark.

No. First of all, you're wrong. Second it was between me and Chanel and was mostly a joke. Your spin however is silly.

You don't give away all star potential for nothing just because they don't fit here. Ridiculous. Two all star level players and a pick for a really good role player and scraps? Terrible trade all day every day.
