This. He's in a perfect position to maximize what he can do well. Some great games. A lot of of solid games. Some bad games. High end role player. Which is better than anyone thought. Him and Hartenstein probably saved our season with Grimes crashing & Mitch getting injured.

Biggest thing for me is that he's NOT egotistical.... he's a team first guy! PG, SG, SF... he doesn't care. 6th man, starter. He just goes out and gets the job done!

I was one who didn't understand the initial signing... that's why I'm not a NBA front office person. Lol

Serious question... since you mentioned Grimes - do you think the internal Nova brotherhood had anything to do with Grimes poor play? Personally, I don't think so but a buddy told me that he felt as though Grimes allowed Divi and Divi's relationship with the fellas to get into his head and became jealous and was always pressing as opposed to allowing the game to come. Said he felt Grimes was a bit immature. Just curious to see how others view that

Perhaps, but if a player is that mentally soft, he’s gonna fold at some point anyway. He’s in his third year, and we couldn’t continue to nipple feed him.

Exactly... I mean it made some sense but this isn't high school

Most importantly he can be a reliable 3rd scoring option to compliment Jalen and Julius. He doesn't need the ball to be effective but can get his own when he needs to and get others involved. This will also be beneficial for OG where he doesn't have to worry much about scoring and can focus more on the defensive end while getting easy baskets on offense.

As far as his full upside, I could see him being a 22 4 5 on 46% shooting and 40% from 3 as a 2nd option behind a star.

Donte is having a career year, but that is a very misleading framing. You’re attributing to DDV starting the improvement that happened after the OG trade; 16-4 since Jan 1st.

To be meaningful, you’d need to compare our record with Grimes starting before the OG trade to our record with DDV starting before the OG…since grimes has no starts since the trade.

And before the OG trade we went 7-6 with Donte starting vs 10-8 with Grimes. DDV is certainly having a better season than Quentin, but our record is a bad way to make that case.

Donte's role has also grew since first being inserted into the starting lineup. Once RJ was gone, he really stepped in as the #3 scorer. So yes, maybe I should have said post trade but the impact is still the same.

As someone who was riding the Midvincenzo memes and calling it a bad deal at the start of the season, dude is insanely good right now

Actually might be the best value contract in the NBA, which is wild coming from the same FO that gave Josh Hart a $20 million per year extension.
